I am curious and a bit irritated as to why so few people use push to talk. It is really disgusting to hear people chewing right in my ear, slurping their monsters, and coughing like they have the TB. It is especially painful when people are screaming to their mothers "I"LLL BBEEE RIIIGHHHHTTT THHHEERREE!!!" or when i have to hear 6 different instances of "Null Cannon Targeting Hostile MCC" again and again. It really is not that hard to set your push to talk button to something the is easily reachable in battle, and it saves a lot of unnecessary crap over the channels.
So in short, use push to talk, seriously, please.... |

LOL the catch 22
I have PTT on because my mic picks up plenty. Yet at the same time, its a hindrance because I have to stop movement to PTT. You and I both know that a nanosecond to a second of being still could cost you a clone.
But I do feel your pain, people don't have comms etiquette. I like to cut up in the Warbarge but I go to PTT when I'm deployed on the field. |

No.
Sure, people need to learn to mute their mic when they need to scream LOUD NOISES!!!! But that kind of **** gets taken care of pretty quickly in organized teams (non-pub pickup team chat... /shudder)
But PTT gets your ass killed in combat. Only so many things my thumb can do at once |

But I have never gotten killed using PTT, then again, I am a lefty and use a keyboard and mouse. But even a little etiquette would be nice. |

But even a little etiquette would be nice. Personally, I think the only person in a squad that shouldn't have PTT on would be the squad leader. Much like in Eve Online how the FC takes precedence over the fleet, the squad leader should be heard over everyone else.
I should add that the very reason I don't squad is found in that video. If more people would use PTT, I'd definitely squad up. |

I wonder if you guys act like my cousin when a kid joins the squad
Cousin sends a message before deployment, "Kick him!"
I reply, "No we shouldn't yet."
The game starts and we capture an object, he sends another message, "We should kill him!"
I laugh and say, "There's no team killing." |

Mostly because the voice system doesn't work at all, a lot of people are unable to get the hotkey to even work. I know it hasn't worked for me since 1.2. |

I have never had a problem with it, not on the PS3 Controller, and not on my keyboard. Sounds like an excuse to me... and you know what they say about excuses. |

PTT has a chance of bringing up the scoreboard.
Bringing up the scoreboard equals lost tanks.
No.
Also you can't talk in loading screens with PTT. |

Haha I hate the chewing, but the coughing it's whatever. I do it too. Can't help it. The chewing, I usually leave squad and eat my food. I will drink during a match though. As long as I don't hear chewing at a loud volume especially chips, then idc. If i gota use the phone, in a rush i uually throw my bluetooth onto the bed while i fight and tall. 2 convos at once isn't good. |

Change your PTT button. I totally agree that the default is weird. When I used the PS3 controller, I set it switched nades and ptt. You can set it to whatever though. |

Oh when did this change?
It used to be the default only.
Loading screen chit chat still stands but I can definitely see using PTT in some situations if I can bind it to something not ********. |

This is why I would like a push to toggle comms option. It would make it easier to use while fighting therefore making it used more often. |

Mute runs the risk of loosing out an valuable combat info while all of the baby wailing and Justin Bieber is going on. It is sad that so many people are simply to lazy to hold down a button while chatting... |

I'd prefer to use PTT but it refuses to work properly for me, if I enable it it mutes my mic permanently. When I push my PTT button no one can hear me and my mic icon remains red. As such I just keep my mic muted until I have information to relay. |

Push to talk to should be the only option so I don't have to hear some dude chewing his cud while he plays.
On the other hand, hearing some dude get totally pissed at the game (or his wife) is kind of entertaining. |

Why I don't use PTT:
1. I actually have a good mic that doesn't pick up background noise too much 2. Since the PTT key can't be rebound, I have to awkwardly try talking and moving at the same time using my thumb, usually costing me my life 3. For whatever reason PTT seems to have voice activation too 4. No talking while in loading screen/dead/with your chat open
I do mute my mic if I eat something or have personal things to deal with |
