This argument is so... so...pointless that I don't know where to begin... Almost everything here said can be twisted around back on basic infantry of every type. If a sniper actually got 60 kills there is no way his team would have lost. Even a noob team can steamroll the opponents if one guy is killing that much... "Snipers cannot push on an objective" is an utter crap statement made by someone who knows nothing of actual combat tactics. If the enemy cannot approach an objective, what does it matter if the person shooting is 20 meters or 200 meters away?
"Because they're not playing MY preferred role everyone else is useless!"--- The basic concept behind this ego-centric post. Having no grasp of the flow of battle will tend to do this.
The only thing snipers cannot do is hack points from a distance. However many people also fail to realize there are plenty of infantry players who never stoop to touching a point, they just kind of hover around it looking for people to shoot. Of course those people are conveniently ignored because they're of the same combat role and they're not as easily singled out for finger pointing when it becomes "convenient".
As for complaining about redline sniping, If you're not willing to learn how to use a sniper rifle to hit people back in the redline (INCREDIBLY EASY TARGETS BTW) then you REALLY DESERVE to get shot every time by those snipers simply because you were too lazy to try and actually get the gear required to deal with the situation.
Again ego-blasters feel it to be somehow blasphemous of their particular weaponistic religion to switch to an alternate weapon scheme as a situation tactically demands. It's laziness at it's highest caliber. You complain on the forums instead of getting a rifle and shooting those sitting ducks right back.
90% of the time, redline snipers are in it for themselves. 90% of the time snipers in DUST are in it for the KDR. And 90% of the time these snipers will have themselves on top of the leaderboards with their super high body counts. And yes, a sniper can get 60 kills and still lose a game.
You suggest to have us change fits at a supply depot to counter snipe you? How many times do you change fits to do something when your team needs your help other than to feed your KDR? A lot of these players drop in a match to play their favorite roles just as YOU. The difference is that they'll need to come to you and you don't need to come to them. No problem. The PROBLEM is there's this radioactive territory that protects you and kills the health of anyone who dares enters your SAFE ZONE that there's no way for them to reach you. And if there happens to be no supply depot lying around because some redline tanker decides to pop it. Your suggesting for us to commit suicide just to change fits and "ADAPT". That's great. We'll commit suicide for you while you risk nothing sitting pretty shooting targets at a theme park.
If redline counter sniping was SOOOOOO easy to do for everyone, then why is it that SOOOOO many snipers are sniping with an officer grade weapon such as the Thales? I'll tell you why. It's because they know that redline sniping is the safest spot to be and poses very very very.....did I say very? Yes I did....very very little risk.
In the real world of sniping there are no redlines to protect the sniper. And though this is a game, the intentions was to recreate similar tactics and scenarios as in the real world.
In the end. 90% of snipers in this game are KDR whores. And there are only a fine few that are true snipers. |

Redline was introduced in DUST to prevent one team from completely massacring another. Redline sniping is a drawback of this, but it is far less worse than what would happen if it wasn't there. If it were to be removed, that would unleash a storm of crying, whining and rage of unseen proportions.
I'm glad you recognize that there are certain maps that cater to redline sniping. And I never once said that we were winning and decided to go chasing a scrub up in the mountains. My teammates and I DO stay out of sniper fire if we're winning.
And yes I agree that the redline is necessary to prevent ad much spawn killing as possible. The problem lays on CCP's hands to adjust it so they can't redline snipe. And to assume only pro's can remain unseen sniping from a sweet spot is jus disregarding the possibility that they can and have.
My entire complaint was strictly about "redline sniping" and its very existence. That's it.
And of course I was exaggerating on the 90% I was just trying to make a point. It's probably more like 89.99% |

Oh yes. And rail sniping from installations on a redline is by far the stupidest defense placement I've ever seen. |
