The redlines need to be moved back so opponents can reach the areas snipers like to use. Anyone behind the redline shouldn't get ANY SP at all for their actions. If you can shoot me, but I can't even get to you, that's a problem with basic game mechanics. So your team is redlined and you decide to break the blockade. The enemy's all set up along the border, looking for your teammates who're also trying to break out. You crest a hill and use your height advantage to rain death with your AR/SCR/LR/MD and kill 4 enemies and break free. But **** you! No SP because you were in the redline when you did it. Because you had to be. What were you supposed to do, run through them and then turn around?
Also, you know you can still shoot redline snipers, right? You might not be able to run up and melee them, but you can still shoot them. MCC sniping was fixed. |

You really think the greater of two evils is that occasionally a group of guys won't get that extra 50 WP for a minute or two after they've played so poorly they've gotten redlined? At that point the game is basically over already anyway, and hopefully that team will learn to plan ahead a bit better in the future.
And sure, if you happen to have spent weeks skilling specifically into sniping you may be able to countersnipe from your own redline, but it's just as easy for a sniper to slip backwards two steps from the edge just like the tanks do when they get hit.
Fixing an obvious problem with "just do it too" isn't good enough, and has led us to the point we are today where every match has multiple head glitching snipers hiding where only the other redline snipers can even attempt to do anything about them.
No, the counter to redline snipers is another sniper rifle placed anywhere it can get a shot. It doesn't have to be in your own redline. And teams can be redlines a whole match, and likely because they aren't doing so hot, yes. But will repeatedly being denied progress help them get better? Are they to flounder in militia fits until they either leave or get lucky?
Funkmaster has the right of it though, it's the map design. If there weren't good positions in the redline, it wouldn't happen. A hill in the redline provides a protected vantage point. The problem however is that we end up needing no hills by any redline, because it will either be within the redline and sniped from, or without the redline and sniped from, into the redline, destroying the redline's purpose.
Of the two, the redline sniper is the lesser of two evils. It's too easy to spawn in the free sniper fit and take them out, or, if they're a heavy suit and drop back like you say, pop 'em in the head a couple of times until they move. |
