Sorry if I seem rude, but I feel frustrated and disappointed. I'm trying not to make this a rant, I don't want it to be a rant.
But I can't believe you actually listened to the whiners and the QQers.
If you think you can count on the placebo effect to deceive us, you're underestimating the playerbase's intelligence.
My TAR's scope is bouncing everywhere, very close to how it used to be before 1.4 and it absolutely sucks.
I really have no words... who cares about the auto AR, aim assist or not, it's just a supergun. But I want the previous values on the Scrambler and the TAR while scoped-in.
Restore it for when ADS'ing scoped weapons.
Do you know those people who affront you genuinely spamming their AR from 45-50 meters, thinking they are invincible because there is no really counter to them? Well, during the last week I was able to drop them engaging them with my TAR from that distance. Unlike those guys, I actually have to struggle against some recoil to track that little target dancing in my scope... and aim assist helped me sensibly. Now it's been noticeably decreased and guess what? Once again, there is no reason for me to use my favorite weapon! Why picking the TAR if the normal AR is easier to aim even at 50m?
This might be my last post.
Not just because of this, but because everthing is like this with this game. The whiners and the QQers are the only undisputed winners and the FOTM followers are the only ones who have it right. This is just the finishing blow to me.
I've always been a TAR user. I used it when it was garbage, I used it when it was OP and I use it now. It's my gun. I've seen hundreds (thousands?) people coming to my weapon because suddenly it was the new FOTM and then leaving for the MD and the AR. In the end I got the nerf, not them. Because it's not their weapon, it's mine. I keep using it, while they move to the next FOTM.
You know what? I'm tired of this.
I put my time and my efforts into these forums, filling the feedback section, trying to share my experiences to help rookies and to support the good forumers against the trolls and the QQers. And everything seems to be useless.
This might be the time to move away.
I will be checking the forums these days to see if something is going to happen and if you're actually listening to me. I really hope you can restore some of my faith in this community (the good part) and in yourself, CCP. If this won't happen, I'll be leaving. Sad to end this with a "QQish" thread, but I really feel demotivated.
Best regards and thank you for reading this. |

It is true. But it's not the weapon I want to use.
And I know I've been using the Tac without aim assist for so long... but it felt like a dream since 1.4. Not because it was OP, but because it was enjoyable.
It's like giving someone a wonderful present and than taking it back... |

Nerfed pretty hard.
Decreasing it for all weapons was not a good idea. All weapons need different level of aim assist and more aim assist while ADS, I believe. |

calisk galern wrote:if they nerfed the tar they nerfed the wrong gun, the auto AR was the one in need of a nerf, and all it needed was a damage reduction, and on top of that the scrambler rifle, and smg should of also been on the list.
that said players who think their gun is some holy cow that can never be tocuhed should quit, you won't last in a dynamic game, nothing is sacred, everything can and will change.
They didn't nerf the TAR (I think), they nerfed aim assist on all weapons in the same way. Aim assist made some people whine about the AR because it passively buffed it even more, but it was not making the other weapons OP.
The Scrambler and particularly the TAR were much more enjoyable to me with the previous aim assist, instead now they suck just like in 1.3.
AR is undisputed. |

I don't like to compare this game to Battlefield or CoD because it's quite different, but thet are successful shooters and the point here is really aim assist on scoped weapons.
Especially in CoD, you get different levels of aim assist for each different scope. Try a random gun with iron sights and then put an olographic on it... aim assist is waaay more dramatic.
That happens for a very specific reason, the zoom increases your x/y imput sensitivity and the thumbstick gets dumb. You need a decent aim assist to land multiple shots with a semi-auto weapon like the TAR, the FAL or whatever. DUST is a good example of what happens without aim assist (or with a dumb aim assist): the recoil of your first shot messes up your accuracy and you feel like trying to catch a fly. |

Vrain Matari wrote:+1 OP.
Anyone who doesn't, at some point, get immensely frustrated with this development process is either a robot or has the making of a solid Buddhist.
In this case my feeling is that what we're seeing with AA now is an intention overmodulation of AA in order to assess and ultimately calibrate AA to it's final levels.
I expected CCP to change the setting, but not this quickly because peeps were still learning to operate in the new AA environment. Two weeks of data collection at a minimum was my assumption, but CCP moved fast on this.
I expect AA levels to change again, at least a couple more times. And there's prolly several variables to play with(friction, adhesion, ranges and more we don't see directly) and the question of how much AA different weapons receive.
And it's also likely that with the kb/m love coming in 1.5 we may have to revisit AA again.
Because we're not just balancing AA, we're balancing kb/m vs. controller in for the persistent high-stakes/high-risk economic/social war simulator that DUST will evolve into. And the perceived wisdom in the industry is that it prolly can't be done, and we know with certainty that no major developer has the balls to try. But CCP does, and i believe we will all benefit tremendously from it if the players and CCP can find a way to make this work.
It's going to be hard, it's going to be an iterative process, but it is in all likelihood a problem that has a solution. And we're probably going to be the one to find it, and then the rest of the industry can blatantly rip-off what was done in DUST.
Because the price of not having the courage to step into the unknown is to be a follower.
One of the most intelligent posts I've ever read. Thank you.
I really think they should adjust the aim assist for each weapon, instead of tweaking an overall value. However, aim assist is barely noticeable right now, so yes, something needs to be changed.
I'll try to be patient and see what happens during the next days.

Garrett Blacknova wrote:Problem with the TAR wasn't fixed by 1.4 - aim assist reduced the effect of kick on weapons that SHOULDN'T have their kick reduced, and the TAR still has more kick than it should have. The aim assist wasn't actually reducing the recoil, but the slight magnetism helped me to catch my target again. It was nice. |
