Hi all,
For those of you who are PC gamers... chances are that you've either played StarCraft 2... or seen at least one match played, streamed or recorded.
One area-control item in SC2 is the Zel'Naga watchtower... an installation that removes the fog of war in "x" radius around the tower.
Now... in order to have this effect, you need to keep at least one unit with close proximity of this tower... otherwise the map area around it goes dark.
So.... in the spirit of giving us more reasons to get together and kill each other, would adding some type of sensor installation to maps (perhaps in multiple locations) be a good idea?
Map control and institutional awareness is critical, so holding a structure that causes red dots to light up on team-wide radar would be a good thing, right?
How about this:
Neutral structure, cannot be owned. It requires hacking... and once you've hacked it... it shows you red dots in a 200m (or 300m, whatever) radius for 30-60 seconds.
You lose the vision when the timer runs out, or when the tower is hacked by the other team.
So... thoughts? |

So... thoughts? And when the timer runs out? How about "tacnet uplink" all units in 200m get full squad shared vision?? Still requires decent scanning but makes defense or assault easier!!

Shouldn't this be in Feedback/requests? Otherwise 200 meters seems a bit large(even Idiots wont miss that many red chevrons.), If your talking pubs I'd recommend 100-150, for FW and PC, I could see 200 or more. |

I play SC2 but I'm more of a ps3 and I think this will be a good idea. Nerd more objective things, game getting stale |

Scanner towers? Could be a cool and very effective installation, I think a permanent but small scan radius of say, 50m might be better though. It makes the placement more important, and there should probably be a limit of how many could be placed down at any time as well, to stop the entire map from being coated in them. |

When the counter runs out, the tower stops informing that team's TacNet.
The range was just a suggestion, incidentally. |
