Just got back from a Domination match and 4 well fit tankers dominated the match. We managed to blow up 1 but 3 is just too much when they're covering each other for a single squad. This isn't about that though, this is about my role in the match.
As a Logi the main thing I can do is lay Proxy Mines and use Proto packed nades since swarms will leave me useless against the Infantry pincering us while we're fighting tanks. Therefore, I lay 6 Boundless Proxy Mines and the tankers rolled over them without a care in the world. Proxy Mines let out a beeping sound IIRC to alert the tanker of its presence, so they are already nerfed from the get go, but these tankers literally did not care at all about them. As they shouldn't because 6 Proto proxy mines did pathetic damage to those tanks.
This is a serious error that needs to be fixed CCP. Proxy Mine damage needs to be a least least doubled, they should put the fear of God in any grounded vehicle, but as they are now, they are laughed at, and causally rolled over, deterring nothing but Militia Vehicles from proceeding. |

ladwar wrote:in using proxy its numbers over type. the only reason to go proto is so you can drop 15 proxy and limit large areas to vehicles. you are doing it wrong, it not the equipment's fault. it is user fault right there.
Wouldn't that be a design flaw itself? There is no reason to go proto?
And how exactly are you suppose to use Proxy Mines? You lay them in one spot, preferably before the corner to your "camp" to deter them from proceeding. Why are proxy mines not deterring them from proceeding?
Large areas Proxy Mines splash isn't that wide, what's stopping the tanker from going around(or simply right through, again they aren't deterring or limiting anything) |

This still doesn't change the fact that they aren't doing their job correctly. Are you telling me you have to lay 15 of Standard, ADV, and Proto mines in 1 spot, completely wasting your role as a Logi, just to get the vehicle user to say " hey maybe I shouldn't drive over there"? Even the most well-fit vehicle should be at least seriously injured from 6 Boundless Proxy Mines. |

I use Re's but saying "just use REs" doesn't change the fact that Proximity Mines are mediocre at best.
Even if you were to go with it at that angle(RE more rewarding, Proxy less rewarding), Proximity Mines would still need a damage buff, seeing how REs right now are doing the amount damage the Proxy Mine needs to do to be effective. |

RE force you to pay attention to them. PM are literary drop and forget, you don't even need to have them on your suit anymore after you placed them because they activate on their own.
So you're saying they're only useful when a Supply Depot is near since they're only useful for doing extra damage? If that's so, Proxy Mines are nothing but a "win more" EQ instead of an actually EQ you can main on your suit.
As of now, even as a drop and forget item, the Proxy Mine is still underpowered. There would be no reason to have an alert on the Proxy Mine if it wasn't meant to deter. It's not doing that right now. |
