When i started playing this game(in closed beta) i was very convinced i would never move over to another game, but day by day my interest in this game wanes and it hit me i may leave this game to play the new destiny game in development.Having said that i didn't want to leave this game without giving ccp the chance to keep me and players like me a reason to stay.I'm the type of person that gets straight to the point, and the questions i want to ask is :
How will you(ccp) keep players like me from going to games like destiny? What can you(ccp) offer that destiny can not? What will you(ccp) do to keep us hooked to your game(Dust 514)? Can you give us better insight inot what you(ccp) plan to do in your road map plan for your game(Dust 514)? What can you do to give beta testers like me to keep us interested in your game(Dust 514)?
You(ccp) does not have to answer these questions at this time, but if you could at least keep these questions in mind that is enough. If you do want to answer them go ahead and if you can give me a reason to stay that's great. Also keep one more thing in mind even if i(we) may have patience it is not in a unlimited supply. If the cpm wants to give us some hope to keep us hooked than i'm willing to listen, also i posted this here because i felt that this is an important issue that needs to be addressed.
Thank you for your time, Valto Nyntus |

I agree with some of the CPM members that CCP laying out a roadmap is difficult due to things changing all the time but I also agree with the OP that there needs to be more marketing done to players about the short (6 mo) and long (6 mo +) term vision for the game.
Without laying out specific things, they should have dev blogs that give a glimpse as to the direction they feel they are capable of taking this game based on how things are at this moment and what they are working on.
I think CCP has done a better job of previewing upcoming changes in the near term (1-2 months out) but all that does is leave players with the constant "whats next" mentality. I feel that CCPs weakness is not in their development team (though they are a little rough now and again) but in their marketing direction. The recent survey was a good idea but it was about two months too late. They should have been doing this a month after Uprising to understand the habits and preferences of their players. Surveys should be used to track trends over time and not only as a 'what went wrong?' pulse. |

CPM recognizes that Dust 514 is between a rock and a hard place. We're not like Bungie where they can sell the sky and make you believe you bought a piece of sky well after the game is out and takes years to realize you didn't.
But first thing's first you're familiar with the concept of the 1 day 7 day and 30 day retention models right?
These aspects need to be addressed aggressively first. Because if they don't come back the next day, the next week the next month? what then makes them come back for the third day, third week and third month?
Just about every successful MMO in history I know of is aware of this.
Every MMO that has failed this horrifically usually forgot the 30 day one. Sure Day 1 is awesome and epic, then day 7 rolls around and epic is no longer there. Gamers are very ravenous and will consume hours of content near instantly. |

Though some recent ones are failing the 7 and 1 day models and get shut down faster than they can address it. +1. you actually know your stuff |

Either way CCP already knows their own numbers and its not to their liking and they're trying to address all three in the upcoming months, polishing the core is critical to all of it. |

I forgot to post the most important question, How will you(ccp) fix the issue of insufficient isk gain?
Btw, when I posted this thread I understood that ccp knows what their doing, but after such a long time playing this game from closed beta the thoughts in the back of our heads that we try to ignore come to the surface. These thoughts being mostly, will ccp be able to fix this game or something related.Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they can't do it, it's just that all this waiting is tiring us to the point that we don't have the desire to play the game.also, if I do move to Destiny it does not mean I'll abandon this game, but I won't be playing this game as much as I used to.having said this, I hope that ccp fixes this game and I'm rooting for them because I believe they have the ability to do it. |

It's weird, CCP seems to be the only one that makes games where where gamers either:
(a) Try and don't continue, or don't play at all.
(b) Play exclusively
Dunno about other gaming forums, but based on my own habits, I regularly play multiple games over a period of time, swapping out the CoD disk for Fifa 13, or other things. Whereas since I started playing Dust, I only play this in my limited time, and swap to FIFA or Tekken or something else if a friend comes over. |

You might consider to factor in "human ego" into the rescue plan (or lack of it). Some people like to receive accolades/recognition for what they'v designed. For what they believe is perfect. No matter the "acid test" results, they may defend their child with fangs and claws. Hindering any further sanitizing efforts. I know this from my very own painful experience. In science, progress is made at a pace of one funeral at a time. In game industry it is one fired/retired game designer at a time apparently...
I hope it is not the case with CCP That they have The Plan every employee agrees to and teamworks for achieving it |

I think the key to this game surviving long term is the ability for a character/corporation to build something besides just districts. There need to be goals and achievements that are available outside of the SP/ISK grind.
- PVE with varying difficulties and better loot drops associated with that - Industry and manufacturing (think about how much fun it was for the first people grinding to build a Titan) - Benchmarking to know that it isnt just a black hole of grinding
I still believe this game has potential (why I even bother with the forums) but it needs to develop beyond a lobby shooter with added bells and whistles. There is only so much time you can spend on the core without expanding the game beyond just small pieces of new content here and there. |

Actually you pretty much described CCPs preample on Dust pre-release.
Except they gave us a piece of sky, for free.
And if you want Sparrows, they cost extra. Don't expect any other birds just yet though because we "have no idea the amount of man-hours that go into designing new birds".

I'm a fellow Eve player. I bought a PS3 primarily for Dust 514, and figured i'd use it for all the other titles i've missed out on the JRPG genre. I log and keep up with Dust sporadically, at best, logging on for big patches at worst. The item packs and promotion offers get me like a fish on a worm - but on to my suggestions in what I think I wish Dust had in its future and what I believe to be possible and risky, something that would actually be impactful, for the Eve client.
1) High-Sec: With the coming Rubicon expansion in Eve, we will be able to bust Interbus customs offices in High-security space. I would like there to be a kind of embargo system, where, after a player/corporation in Eve has set up a Player Owned Customs Office, Dust Mercs can seize control of the planet and the instated Planetary Interaction tax by keeping a Planetary Control meter up with activity - perhaps a perfect introduction to the PvE drones. It'll give people passive isk, if the offices are used, and it offers a dynamic system that ruins a high-sec players day for a bit, offering more incentives for players to invest into more dangerous parts of space.
2)NPC Null-Sec: I want to see the implementation of being able to move capital ship components gradually into the poco, with whatever space it could handle. Introduce a mass limit and time of import delay depending on the amount of m3, keeping anything below 1000m3 an instant transfer. This would build at first a facility, which could be built with PI materials alone at first, and then the capital ship components that could ultimately create a huge weapon of mass destruction that could be aimed at NPC owned stations. Hell, let them respawn at Down Time, i don't care. But being able to disrupt the supposed safety of Null-Sec npc space would offer people to actually go out and take their own space. Give people something to fear. This should by no means be something that'll happen from one day to the next if done right and could change the landscape of Null-sec for the better.
3)Null-sec: Do the above, but obviously only stations owned by the POCO entity could import capital ship components. Let these destroy POS hanging off of moons. The interaction with Dust contracts would sky-rocket.
4) Low-sec: Bring back the Dust affects to system control, but require Mercs to join a side or take some kind of security status hit to where they are only able to accept pub matches for certain factions. Leave contracts open to the highest bidder or contractor looking for reputable Dust mercs to fulfill. I remember how hard it was to take a system with Dust bonuses. I was **** and I hated it, but it was awesome and I was happy when I said to myself, "Hey, they are actually making an impact."
