As a result of the non stop Pubstomping some folks enjoy, newberries have begun looking for refuge in (the) other battle mode(s). This results in FW being either amazingly evenly matched, or this. I censored out my teams names to protect the stomped. I truly believe I was apart of the most lopsided game in Dust 514 history. No one was AFK, they were actually trying to win, and good lord was it depressing. The WP total for our entire team was 2190, theirs was 7550. Our entire team in a squad wouldn't have even sniffed a precision strike, lol. This game NEEDS a game mode like PVE, or just give new players the option to return to the Battle Academy until they reach 100k lifetime WP.
The other thing that baffles me is the unwillingness of "Vets" to help newberries get their bearings. They just laugh and talk smack to them the whole time. Why would you want to stick around a game that is so unfriendly to new players, both game-play wise and player base wise? I understand this is New Eden, and HTFU, blah, blah, blah, but with our player base so small as it is... I try and help these poor bastards from time to time, but sometimes, games like this make you think they have no hope of getting better without the Veteran player base helping out. |

Everything Dies wrote:Two things: 1. Some players from your side may have earned WP but left the battle before it finished. 2. For all of the improvements made to match making, it's still pretty typical to run into battles with one side dominated by squads of one or two corps, while the other is a ragtag collection. That's the thing, no one left or stopped playing. At the very end of the match it was about 12 of our guys blobbed up near my uplinks ( I was the only one on the team laying them down). We were taking cover near the large barrels / vats by the supply depot near "A" on the Ashland map. That "last stand" was the best part of the game, watching my teammates get melted one by one... |

steadyhand amarr wrote:faction warfare is an agreed free for all as it has consequences in EvE. new players should be getting match made with other new players in public contracts. sadly in FW i strongly believe HTFU.
what you are more likely seeing is players going on cool what this and trying it out, personally i think there needs to be lock on FW till so many games or skill points has been reached as you need above normal gear just to stand a chance in FW these days I agree here. In FW I expect to see better gear and players. If I'm running solo, I play FW instead of pubs for this reason. The problem is that the newbies are coming to FW, trying to escape getting their $*^# pushed in, only to have it pushed in even farther, lol. |

Forlorn Destrier wrote: Not the worst. I was in an ambush once where my team went 80-1. No joke.
Also, my corp is routinely able to pull in 7500 WP with only one squad (6 players). A full team doing it isn't that impressive.
I think you're missing the point, but you're also proving my point at the same time. You are describing pubstomping, which is leading newberries into FW to escape it. Instead they find even more sharks in the water. New players need something to keep them interested. Getting curb-stomped constantly is not the way to bring new players back. |

Aero Yassavi wrote:I've seen much, much worse in FW. All these new players who have no clue what's going on are queuing up for FW. I kid you not, I look at the career stats of the people on both my team and the enemy team and they have no more than 10 total kills. What the heck are they doing in Faction Warfare? They see "Public contracts for anybody" and "Factional contracts that impact EVE" and bam, decision made without considering that all they do is hurt the team (literally, the amount of times I've seen a team get cloned in FW, these new guys would of been better served by an empty slot).
CCP, please put some sort of restrictions on FW. Exactly my point. They DO see the public contracts, but it's full of Vets mowing down nubs for "teh lulz". Is the new matchmaking system helping at all with public contracts? I haven't played many pub matches lately. |

Forlorn Destrier wrote: I wasn't disputing the point you made; I was just not commenting on the point. I'm just showing you that example you were giving isn't the most extreme.
Also, we get these results when opposed by other squads, even in Faction Warfare.
My example was never meant to be the most extreme, just an example of what's going on in FW currently. I just made the attention grabbing headline to try and get a lively discussion going. Seems to be working so far. |

Iron Wolf Saber wrote:FW matches should not be matching for skill at all. Agreed, it shouldn't be. I expect to play against good opponents when I fight for the Republic. Again, my point is that it seems like an awful lot of new players are coming to FW to escape the pub matches motto of "the beatings will continue until morale improves". |
