So, you have this Aim Assist put into the game. Before, the aim tracking was garbage, and you couldn't hit anybody because the hitboxes weren't they should have been. You shot right into someone, and nothing registered. You shot a little ahead of someone and STILL nothing registered. So now, you shoot at someone, and bullets actually hit people, and your sight sticks to the enemy(hitbox) better, because underneath the skin, the game knows where the actual hitbox is?
I don't see how this is a bad thing. For me, it makes shooting a microscopic bit easier, making the game less stressful. It hasn't changed my scores at all. It can't be OP if EVERYONE has it.

I think people are under this conviction that the AR is the standard measuring stick in DUST, because it's that way in other shooters. For some reason, they think that kills should take longer in DUST, just because.... Whats wrong with speeding up the game a tad bit? I like shooting people full of bullets or what-have-you, and they actually die a little bit easier for once. I know my aim is good (kind of legendary actually, lol) so I like being rewarded for my skill for a change.
I gave 1.4 a try, and so far I don't see how it changed the game all that much, besides matchmaking. So, why is this Aim Assist thing a bad thing? I don't see anyone complaining that they missed a target and the game corrected it for them, and rewarded them the unjust kill, lol... |

History has shown that whenever the playing field is leveled, the people who were making a killing off the previous system ***** and moan like crazy.
The game now feels less punishing for players with average skill, and harder for players with superior skill (because random reds are now a threat). Oh noes. The sky, it has fallen. |

I find nothing wrong with a level playing field, lol. Bring it on is what I say :)
I'm still mopping the floor with randoms, lol... and I'm doing it with starter fits too, lol. |

Also it's not just the Aim assist, what they are actually bitching about is loosing the ability to vibrate backing and fourth thus avoiding bullets, so that = massive QQ. Of course it's mostly shield tanker QQ....obviously. |

Scouts always lose out. They live by being hard to hit, now they die instantly, on sight. |

Skill is earned though practice, trial and error, learning. Now there's no point when you everyone can hip fire like a boss. |

They live by being hard to hit, now they die instantly, on sight. They SHOULD live by not being seen (but Logis can do that better than Scouts anyway). They die instantly on sight because they're not meant to be seen. Scouts who were good at stealth are less so now, because everyone uses Scanners, and many are now skilled into the high-tier ones that only one Proto Scout suit (but also an Assault suit and several Logis, including a non-Proto Logi) can out-dampen.
If Scouts actually legitimately had the advantages we're meant to have in terms of stealth, the issue would be with players who are used to abusing por hit detection. And whether the Aim Assist is on or not, those players would still be getting wrecked, because they aren't playing stealthy. |

There was never skill involved with DUST to begin with. Before it was just spray n' pray, or spam explosives because you never knew if your weapon was going to do any damage because of bad hitboxes, lag, etc. Now, its EVERYONE has a chance for their bullets to connect...
The skill comes involved with using cover, dictating engagements, map knowledge, etc...
Bottom line, it makes things more equal as far as bullets connecting better. Yes, a starter fit, fresh out of the academy, scrub may kill you a little easier, but its YOUR fault for getting onto that situation in the first place. In an open gunfight, you should still have the advantage because of superior equipment and possibly aim. That's what being good is all about. Its more than just good aim. You have to look at a match as a whole. That's what tops leaderboards, and separates good players from the Gods... |
