Personally, I can see validity on both sides as far as reviews of AIM assist.
The PRO faction - Aim assist makes this game feel like less work to some people. It puts a little more fun back into the game. Players can no longer just stand toe to toe and take on three people. It also adds balance against AOE users who dominated after 1.3
The CON faction - Aim assist is a little too strong. Aim assist consists of two mechanics. The first mechanic helps lead the reticule towards your target while the second helps to keep it on the target. I fully support the first mechanic and believe that it is working fine. However, I believe that the second is what is causing some of the grief on the forums. I think that relaxing this second mechanic will help to make both sides a little happier.
Overall, this new aim assist has changed the game and will require a change to how people play the game.
- You die a lot faster now - Mercs will have to completely rethink their fits and tactics to remain ISK-positive moving forward. When you combine aim-assist with matchmaking, you are going to die more than you are used to.
- Even if you win an engagement, you will be hurting - CQC becomes a whole new ballgame. In the past, you could take on multiple targets in a row and, because they were surprised, they generally would not be aiming to their best ability. More often than not, you would come out with only some of your shields gone. Now, you are going to be in need of a logi.
- Armor and Shields now have a somewhat 'balance' - I say this because armor (with the aide of a logi or rep hive) has now become much better at CQC while shields and their recharge ability are more tailored to hit-and-run and ranged engagements.
- Teamwork is now more important than ever - As stated before, straight 1v1 is a lot more taxing than it used to be. It is now much more beneficial to stay together and have a good diversity of squad members (energy/projectile/hybrid weapons as well as logi support) to be able to consistently move from engagement to engagement.
I think that just tweaking Aim Assist a little bit will help to make this patch shine (that and fixing the whole matchmaking and CQC weapon hit detection thing). I like how it has changed how we play the game but I dont want it to completely erase skill as a deciding factor for an engagement.
Thank you for your time. |

I think everyone is happy about the end of the texan 2 step, aim assist needs a little tweaking but not too much, however the ttk is to short now, it practily eliminates the point of anything other than tanking modules, other than theres onlymthe riflesmto complain about! |

I approve seeing aim assist return but no one here wanted it to be so helpful that it's actually tracking the targets for you. It's supposed to nudge you to the target as it passes your reticule, not aim the gun for you. |

People always knew it would be very powerful, however poor aiming mechanics and hit detection stopped this!! Its not the aim assist thats game breaking, its the weapons that have it!! |

Gallente AR (plasma rifle) is designed to be the hardest hitting close range direct fire weapon. It is not supposed to have a long ttk. Also you can't talk about aim assist and not hit detection. High RoF weapons got more of a buff from hit detection than they did from aim assist. |

I think there's a lot of truth here.
In reality, our weapon's damage output has, up to this point, been balanced as compensation for unreliable hit detection and awkward aiming mechanics.
That's over now, but i'd like to see everything stay roughly where it is until the vehicle/AV rebalance and the full line up of racial suits and weapons is released.
Maybe after a couple of weeks when CCP has cleared the backlog from the patch and we had more experience with the 1.4 some stopgap tweaks could be made for playability's sake.
My my experience in hammering serial skirmish contracts is that i'm personally very happy with damage output as is. |

Yep, as in another post I just made GÇö learn to move tactically and with a little patience. Stop running around loke chockenswith you head cut off.
I can still run my "close range sniper" fit of a dragonfly suit, tac rifle and smg and still get kills withou dieing; and that is at close range even. I'm surprised when I don't go down.
As I also stated in another thread, the tac rifle et al doesn't seem to be doing any better than they did with aim assist on. |

LOL i love it.
EVERYONE wants there to be no strafing or bunny hopping becuz this is a "tactical" shooter.
Idiots i swear how you guys dont understand this yet boggles my mind.
This was never meant to be a tactical shooter. CCP has in the past pretty much outright stated that they were trying to make a game similar to MAG or Halo. Neither of those games are tactical shooters....they are called tracking shooters. How you guys started playing and then assumed this was supposed to be a tactical shooter with cover (there is no cover on almost every map) and the fact that TTK is WWWAAAYYY to high for ANY tactical shooter. None of this indicated anything to you guys? Like that maybe your wrong? |

Bingo. Giving me an extra 50-75 HP with the armor buff doesn't really do me much good if AR's are hitting me much more often. Let the AA help you initially lock on to your target, but once your target begins to actively move you're on your own. |

Today I did a little test after some advice from a squadmate. I used my right stick to gain aim and then let go of it as I fired.
What I saw was the mechanic track the enemy without any input from me. All I had to do was make sure that the enemy was within a certain range of the reticule and it continued to track perfectly. This is what I mean about the 'sticky' being too strong right now. |

TrUtH hUrTz Skill is a made up word when it comes to video games. Running around like a nut with and ar is for fools. Im sure your one of them. Smart players stay behind cover and never go toe to toe with the enemy. Stupid people like talk about something as fake as skill and get shot down by tactical players who use everything to there advantage. The reason you get owned is because they fixed hit detection. Watch out high sp players the tacticians are hitting the warzone. WE WILL TAKE YOU ALL DOWN |

Seriously this is a load of bullshit. Quit talking out your ass and just admit CCP added a crutch for their **** poor playerbase. That hasn't been able to track targets since the private trials. If you want to play a tactical shooter go play SOCOM and CS. |
