So today i got on to test out 1.4 since yesterday everything fu**ed up, i realized that in every match i joined i was being "scanned". I was curious if anyone else experiences this because back in the days (1.3) the actve scanner was rarely used. i use them aswell.they are very handy when you cant find someone to "kill". plus very usefull in squads |

I'm still not sure whether I like the scanner. Sure, it's great when you see enemies light up like a christmas tree, but I'm afraid that a) it's blowing my stealth, and b) it makes my enemies more aware.
You can see enemies change behaviour once they know they're being scanned, and I like them to be unaware. That makes it easier to flank. |

The 15dB can find anything. You can hide from the 26dB if you are a scout. |

If you are looking the stealth tank keep in mind that all proto-frame logistics suits have the ability to stealth tank as at least four low slots are required (on a medium or light frame) to effectively break the scan threshold with complex profile dampeners. In addition to the Gallente Scout, the Gallente Proto Assault variant has the necessary four low slots to stealth tank (rather than armor tank). Just food for thought from HydraSlav's handy fitting guide.
---Suits that can Stealth Tank below 15db-------- Armar Logistics ak.0 Gallente Logistics gk.0 Caldari Logistics ck.0 Minmatar Logistics ck.0

If I may make a recommendation. If you want to get the most out of your scans to help your squad, equip two A-45 Quantum Scanner (requires level 3 skills) to a logistics' suit. The Scanner has a paint time of 16 seconds for targets with scan profile of 35db or above. Most people you'll encounter (at the moment) won't go below that. As each scanner requires a recharge time after use, you can flip to the other scanner to pulse another direction while the other scanner recharges. This will effectively allow you to keep lighting up targets without delay. |

Quick question - do all scanners have the same cool down time? That Duvolle scanner looks pretty awesome assuming its cool down time isn't also 25 seconds. |

Seems like you could make a fun tactic out of stressing people out with false alarms by constantly scanning them from a distance and not engaging them leaving them guessing and anticipating an attack.

Gallente Scout lvl 5 and Dampening 5 put me at 30.375 dB without running any modules.
1x Basic Dampener beats proto scanner with signature at 25.8 dB 2x Complex + 1x Basic beats proto focused scanner at 14.5 dB
Show your work: Base = 45dB x .75 (racial 5) x .9 (damp 5) = 30.375 Base x .85 = 25.81875 Base x .85 x .75 x .75 = 14.523... |

With the patch and the tac net nerf the active scanner is kinda OP. Trade off with a squad mate for regular scanning and use it as a way to point out targets to the squad and team (if it shows them to the team.) Had a skirmish game today where I saw three enemies heading for the point and which way they were facing. Just went around the corner and flanked them. When they noticed me I pulled back, scanned and flanked them again. After they fix the shotgun I am testing this for a ninja fit. |

It's great for large fire fights you know when a target is gonna attack you as you can see him coming around the corner. The fact that all your team mates can see the enemys flashing red on there screen and minimap is a huge indicator it also abolishes that fear in you that you get when you don't know where the hell the enemys are. The fact that it picks up equipment, CRU, Instillations, vehicles and pretty much everything is simply great. |

To know if you like the active scanner or not try this. Run a battle without one feel like you just don't know whats around the corner? Yeah though so. Now run an active scanner. Oh look I can see everything O.O |

Profile dampeners don't have stacking penalties? They don't mention them in the item description, but has this been confirmed?
And it looks like the cooldowns aren't all the same - at least, the cooldown for the A-45 Quantum is around 10 sec where it's 4-5ish with the basic scanner. |
