Yes, using a mouse is lazy and reeks of tryhardness. I use a mouse and keyboard plenty thanks on a pc. When I first got a next gen console I was useless with a pad, but continued and what do you know, I got better
People use mice because they know its an advantage and they cba to go through the bad phase while they adapt to a controller. |

You barely even notice it Have to agree, I don't even notice it drag sometimes. In fact most of the time aim assist barely even kicks in for my forge at all until about 10m, or so, close Edit here - Well I don't even have aim assist on so thats a glory, lel. Excuse this. Dunno why everyone is calling it aimbot even though the keyboard guys have their advantage to their high accuracy and fast movements and then they complain about getting whopped by a DS3 player and call it aimbot. Sounds pretty cool doesn't it. And now since it helps with aiming they call it aimbot. Just because the weapon slows down and drags it with the target SLIGHTLY it doesn't mean its aimbutt. Its an ASSIST. It might need to be toned but hey since keyboard guys get the advantage of super smooth controlling on player grounds and high accuracy why shouldn't the DS3 get an advantage? Tell me an ACTUAL reason why it needs to be toned down a tad. Not just screaming AIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMBOOOOOOOOOT all the time. With how jacked the ds3 controller is for fps it is just balancing the gameplay. Mouse users will still dominate because the ds3 is so ******* twitchy, but at least the aim assist helps with those messed up controller dynamics (very unresponsive micro-movements and then EXTREMELY over responsive regular movements, try sniping someone over 400 meters away for a perfect example). To he people who are saying its aim of because the shots are landing so much more now: the system is finally more realistic! You complain about it being easier to kill people because you were playing a broken freaking system!
I agree that now that it is implemented the hitboxes should be reduced to normal, but while playing with aim assist on for the first time I noticed that, more than anything, the shots I fired directly at the target are finally hitting. It seems that the aim assist is "assisting" us by finding their real hitbox, thereby fixing the issue of server related hitbox lag/lead. All these "pro" gunners are mad because strafing (a bullshit move that would get you killed on ANY battlefield) no longer works and because the gunners controls are more intuitive and responsive and above all NATURAL, so now noobs can kill them because they are no longer fighting against a broken system that a few people learned to use.
Why do you think it is that EVERY shooter game for the ps3 has a level of aim assist? Honestly? It's because the controller is not a fined tuned-enough instrument to allow for immersive and realistic fps action. This aim assist has helped a lot with the tactical design of the game, cover can actually be used for what it was meant for while COD strafing BS is gonna get you killed.
I only got to play a few games last night but the kdr between aim assisted weapons and not is almost exactly the same.
So I say: working as intended.

Aim assist doesnt even feel like it is working, though it must be for so many to QQ.
I see more deaths than anything because no one is using the active scanners like they should. Hiding behind a corner doesnt do you any good when the entire team sees you glistening like a christmas tree... Now scouts need the old speed so they can survive... |

The point i was making is mouse and keyboard is vastly superior to a pad, the assist levels the playing field.
In fact, if CCP didn't pander to the lazy, pc elitists, then there would be no need for aim assist. The playing field would already be level. Unless the devs allow mouse users to turn faster than the speed cap on the sixaxis, the mouse and keyboard only has a slight precision advantage in aiming, which is almost entirely negated by the precision advantage sixaxis users have for movement.
I haven't tried mouse aim since the update, but several people have said the hard cap is still in place on mouse aiming, which means there isn't any real advantage and aim assist is unnecessary. The aim friction we get where your aim slows down over a target which isn't affected by the aim assist on/off setting) is plenty to even up the control schemes without a heavy-handed aimbot like I experienced yesterday. |

You barely even notice it No.. seriously... i actually being serious for once.. that is one of the best aim-assist is seen in ANY Console. Keep it as it is CCP, don't do anything stupid.
The aim assist is just right, it isnt aimbot, far from far far from it, whoever said you can not move the right stick is on something!! The aim assisst doesnt track for you, what it does do is fine tune your aiming to improve your own ability to track, even at 100 sensitivity. The dragging is just your sensitivery increasing when your opponent starts going faster!! Nothimg wrong, no ads snap nothing. Your just afraid of being knocked off your perch! |

You know what CCP is probably trying to do?
Make you play the game with the control surface it was designed for!
No other CONSOLE game plays better with a keyboard then a controller. NONE.
And, no other console game takes a week to learn how to just aim! You are both on equal footing in skill (roughly) in one or two matches.
The coming of the Console Gamer has come to DUST, and if you don't like it, GTFO.
Learn instant gratification or get out.
And I don't say that sarcastically. |

This is truth. Iam trying to figure out why so many people are defending the aim bot notion it is not there i still think its just players getting a rude awakening of the strafe nerf that is working hit detection alot of people also seemed to be suprised how effective the AR was at medium ranges that are standard for the gun but it was capable of doing that before when the stars aligned and hit detection didnt make a few bullets miss its a incredibly accurate gun with no/very little recoil. |

There are actually 2 variations, magnetism and adhesion, magnetism is related to strafing, normally when you strafe, your aim translates with you!! However people counter that by aiming in the other direction, this usally cause parralx where it hinges on a point between the two players! Magnetism means that that when you attempt to readjust, sensitive drops causing a drag like effect. Adhesion works when the player attempts to track a moving player, the sensitivity adjusts to reduce flicking back and forth over a target because you keep going to far!! It changes based on the speed of your target, this means when a target start sprinting the sensitivity adjusts to keep up, this makes it feel like you are being dragged, there are not headshot wander or behind wall tracking, stopping input stops aim assist as it is still dependent on your input!
Please copy this to any other aim assist is aimbot thread, I cant be bothered to to type it out again!! |

So on my first encounter with aim assist on day 1, either they tweaked it since, or I had a glitchy match.
Because I've gone and tested it properly today to make sure, and it's there, but it's nowhere near as harsh as it had been that first time.
I only used ARs and Scrambler Rifles though, and the worst I've heard was from Laser users, so it may be a problem with Lasers, or an intermittent problem (like every iteration of aim assist in DUST has had previously). I won't rule anything out just yet, but with a larger test sample, and this time consciously focusing on testing it rather than just getting annoyed by it doing things that, while awesome, weren't what I was trying to do. |
