Aim assist makes it easier to stay on target, and preferentially aims for the head for you.

This is what happens when you...
Fix lag issues Fix hit detection issues Add ridiculously overpowered aim "assist"
All in the same patch.
Pretty obvious CCP didn't think about that one enough. |

AR got "more" powerful in 1.4 due to changes in hit detection and aim assist. More of its shots are connecting now, and that makes it hurt more...a lot more. Don't forget that AR is supposed to be really high damage at close-to-medium ranges, with Combat, SCR, and Rail rifles rounding out the rifle line at higher ranges.
Problem is now, though, that Combat and Rail rifles don't exist yet, so AR is left to carry the banner of "the" rifle (sorry SCR! That's the way it is! Even Amarr militia starter suits have them! I mean seriously, wtf, why doesn't Amarr have its racial weapon!?). Once all the rifles are introduced, we'll see some nerfs to ARs (which, I'm sure, will mean tremendous QQ and "Dust is dead" forum posts) to make them really close range killers, while Combat and Rail rifles get advantages at higher ranges. I mean, come on guys, there's a reason shield suits make poor brawlers. Compare the power/tank/engagement range of the races to get an idea of how they all fit together:
Gallente: best brawlers, highest armor, most damage close Amarr: good brawlers, armor/shield mix, high single damage rounds at mid ranges Minmatar: bad brawlers but great kiting/speed, mostly shield + speed based, (since this is a combat rifle, I have to guess: strong burst damage so as to get a shot in before running to cover) Caldari: good skirmisher, highest/best optimized shield tank, (good damage at longest ranges) |

if every shot lands AR's and hmg's have some of the highest dps in the game, not surprising that when you have an aim bot doing alot of the work for you, you will hit the target alot more, thus making it seem more powerful. |

Hit detection issues that were fixed mean more bullets landing.
Giving borderline-aimbot to every scrub means everyone has almost perfect aim
Put those two together and you won't be surviving for long without at least ~1000 EHP. |

Its just who sees who first.
If I see you first you will die, and vice versa. This was the reason I left COD in the first place :(

Maybe that's the issue. IMO, aim assist should gear toward center mass/body shots. Headshots should require skill. |

Everyone in favor of aim assist is a scrub who doesn't understand how to play well with a controller because they can't aim at all.
I only use DS3. I do not use explosive weapons. I do not use vehicles. I will murder the face off of most any mouser any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
The reason you scrubtastic console COD kiddies think kbm is godmode is because these mousers have been using their preferred input method for a decade - or more - with little to no difference between games for how their controls reacted. On the other hand, you "ZOMG CONTROLLER NEEDS AIM ASSIST" kids have been using various controller designs with varying levels of aim correction/auto aim/aim assist on your stupid, bad console shooters, and have never learned proper mastery of any input device because of it.
It's the same reason that people who have never driven a car without Anti-Lock Brakes cannot master threshold braking and will lock up the brakes in a car without ABS, flat spotting the tires and increasing their stopping distance.
The only way to learn threshold braking is to drive a car without ABS. The only way to learn how to aim well with a DS3 is to play shooters without aim assist.
In the meantime, please stop pretending everyone else with a controller is as bad as you are. "You" meaning "every single one of you scrublets in favor of this current aim assist" in that sentence. |

Its because of the Sharpshooter skill, at level 3+ it turns the AR (practically) into a Laser Rifle.

Well, it's always been an OP piece of crap, but this just makes it nigh intolerable. I'm using a Laser Rifle and I'm being out DPSed in my Optimum. 80 meters, in case you didn't know. It irritates me that a Blaster is better than a Laser at that distance. |

Sharpshooter is (once again) breaking things. The new range system pretty much replaced sharpshooter but kick and dispersion needs to be a thing again to add risk to leaning on the trigger. |

We just need what DUST already had without aim assist. A hard cap on turn speed that keeps them in the same ballpark as us. Good sixaxis players can keep up with mouse players when given a level playing field in that way. We get aim friction, which helps keep you on target without aiming for you, they get a mouse. If the aim friction is implemented well, it makes up for the loss of precision well enough to avoid the need for auto-aim. |

You want to get rid of "aimbot" - they will have to drop kbm or put back on the limiters
CCP created this problem and the balancing merry go round catering to the kbm crowd instead of keeping this a firmly based console game.

But the kbm users were yelling for the past months to fix the aiming.... or was that ds3 users as well?
I am a ds3 users and didnt have an issue with aiming, didnt hear people online claiming an issue with it and I asked the question on here and I thought most of the aiming complaints came from kbm users. |

Yes ds3 vs ds3 it isnt an issue but kbm vs ds3 the kbm users have an edge and raw kbm vs ds3 is supposed to be no contest.

Remove KB/M, and a good portion of the playerbase is gone, including me.
I don't take any FPS seriously without it, and CCP wants this game to be taken seriously. |

KBM does still have turning limiters equivalent to DS3 stick turning. They can't just whip around like they can in TF2 or Counterstrike. |

Aim friction was working properly before 1.4 showed up and added the aim assist. We've had aim assist before, it was inconsistent and heavy-handed then, and most of the complaints were about it being inconsistent, with only a few pointing out that when it did work, it was also too strong. Now the aim assist is moslty reliable, but it's still not working as most players would want it to. |

not entirerly true, you can still stand behind people sniping in Amaar suits and put a magazine into them without damage. Something about the amaar medium suits deflects bullets. |
