The game is changed. Gun-game is now more about positioning and tactics, using the tools available (active scanners, vehicles etc) and strategically taking objectives while having eyes and ears on all points in communication.
The game has been changed so that solo Rambos will find a quick trip into the spawn que instead of bouncing around and bunny hopping while somehow managing to avoid fire from up to 16 mercs at once.
Now is the time to use your mind. No longer is shutting off your brain and hopping around in a circle acceptable, now you must move with cover in mind, where are the enemies, where are your allies? Breaching the enemy line means something now where before you could just waltz right past them and take an objective.
Digging in and defensive tactics truly work now. Good squad commanders and team leaders will drastically alter the battlefield.
That's how I feel about it. Yes. Too bad my squads always go into battle with blues that do not know how to squad up...going against top tier corporations.
you dont balance games for pub matches. that breaks a game. you balance it for competition, e.g. PC battles.
noobs are noobs and will always be noobs, unless they get better. but then they wouldnt be noobs anymore by definition, as a noob whines instead of practices. |

On one hand, the strafe and track style of last patch was a great homage to old school FPS and the ability to expose a "good player's" lack of sustained aim was very refreshing but it ruined the tactical aspect of the game. Positioning and squad based gameplay was reduced to dance offs in open ground. Now you actually have to use cover to your advantage and with barely enough lateral movement to make that possible. It's not as twitch as other modern FPS, but TTK can be an issue when a quarter million ISK suit doesn't feel like it's worth the price. I think if they work on optimal ranges on certain weapons and tweak HMG dispersion, we could find a happy medium. those fixes wouldent change ppl with no skill being on level with ppl whos been playing for a long time, or make it feel like your expensive suits are worth a damn. In pc, we use tactics and do not go into open ground engagements unless theres no other choice, and the better of the 2 won, or the ppl involved who showed the better tactica. Now, you run to cover and get hit by aimbot and constantly loose your expensive suits due to aimbot and no strafe speed. That is not fun, cant even call yourself better than anyone cuz were all aimbots Is there a specific weapon we're discussing here or is this purely about the new aiming and strafing? aim and strafe with anything. Strafing is ruined and aimbot is murdering shiet aww no news here u cannot use anything else but a tank.
all he needs is an AR and a controller and he is a god. |

Already the game has changed and become fun because we now rely more on the environment and our team. you can rely on cover without aimbot!! you just hide behind it. Not hard I agree with the jist of the thread, actually just saw maple in a game actually, but justo n this particular comment I wish to play a healthy game of devils advocate. It was damn effective to just outstrafe, more than using cover IMO, especially for scouts. Cover in CQC is pretty worthless in pc, count how many times you see a guy crouch behind cover in PC in the city, only cover is around the corner. If they keep the scan radius this way they need to make much stronger modules to compensate. Either that or people will opt to sacrifice nade spam for scanners on assault suits...which would be nice. I'm really interested in a discussion not a flame.
no, they will just whine about passive scanning. if the assault suit cant do it all then its broken. |

Atom Heart Mother wrote:What do I see here is: Vets are right about aim assist, evry1 kills evry1 and this is disappointing. Evrybody else who are enthusiastic about the new aim assist are all the people who weren't good at shooting before 1.4 and now they find gold in their hands. So we gotta be aware of these people feedback to CCP, as I believe they are too many compared to whom is now complaining, and we run the risk to have no change at all to the aim system for permanently. So bad Right now I have to admit this game is like COD, there's no more skilled difference between players. Such a shame.
This is what has so many people upset. CCP has done a lot of buggy things, but never has it brought the game so close to COD.....I for one am getting scared. Dust is getting farther away from the things that brought me here.

and what would you consider a vet then? would you not agree a vet has more experience and knowledge of this game then a newer player, having been through more builds and seeing more changes to the gameplay mechanics than a newer player?
If you were building a car, would you ask someone who has done it before or would you ask a high schooler who is only thinking about whether or not he is popular? |

Vets in any field including real life don't complain about changes they adapt to it and find ways to stay on top. That's the opposite of everyone else is doing. Like I said don't getting angry now that you can't jump and straff while fighting 2-3 guys in your proto suit and survivor. Give some respect to the guy in the militia suit who 1 v 1 you and won while you had more hp and more dmg. Maybe he did have better gun and now all his head shots are registering.

Ugh.....its this "I am a god lone wolf player" that really hurts this game. Have a squad mate with a scanner. Hell, i make sure my tank has an active scanner for my squad. |

I only use the keyboard for typing messages as I prefer using the ds3 for movement. You should give it a try, the aim assist added is by no means that good. I had a fight 1v1 yesterday that lasted two clips as both of us were heavily armor tanked and running around each other. I used the ds3 for testing of the aim assist and could no see any noticeable difference from before 1.4, I would have done better with the mouse. You might argue that both of us was terrible at aiming
well, i can promise you i certainly dont have aiming problems.
I can also tell you that at the beginning of uprising, in the heat of terribad mouse control for tanks, I would drive with my left hand on the WASD and my right hand on the controller. was actually very fun and demanding on my brain. |

This isn't a game where we all have 100 health and its finite whats the point in having high health point value suits... you can camp longer?
and yes iron i was getting outclasses by militia people clearly..... and i'm so hurt... and scared.... no wait...? sigh..
You know, it could have been a vet FPS on an alt character, and you are just not as good as you thought getting killed by a skilled player in militia gear? I often die in my proto suits against all type of players and take down other proto players in advanced and started outfits. This all happened before 1.4, I really cannot see any different after 1.4. The matchmaking are updated and you were probably setup against skilled players instead of 16 random noobs you could own in your proto suits. Remember, matchmaking are updated and you will be facing more skilled players if you are a skilled player yourself. Do I need to repeat this?
you do realize the matchmaking is broken as sh.it and using it in your argument invalidates the rest of your post? |
