A grenade goes off nearby (or perhaps you survive one) or maybe a railgun round lands 2 meters away. You hear a boom, maybe feel a little rumble in your controller, take a bit of damage, see the explosion effect, then.... nothing. There is no disorientation, there is no thick lingering dust cloud despite an explosion happening on dry crumbling dirt, there is no shock wave making you stumble or even so much as tilt sideways.
I can't help but ask myself: shouldn't the weapons that are able to hurt us over a certain damage level at least phase us in some way? I know we're in protective suits and all, but even if you can't damage it if you drive a truck into a tree, the tree still shakes. Transference of energy and all that. A grenade that is able to take away 3/4 of your health would at least make you stumble a bit, if not send you flying a meter or two.
So CCP, do you have any plans for future releases that may allow us to see some effect on environments and mercs due to impacts with objects and weapon fire? |

One thing I do want in dust is a level of destrutability. Not like BF or something like destorying a building, just something where a grenade or explosive would cause some type of enviromental damage. Maybe shooting a forge gun at the ground will create a hole wich can then be used for cover. Or a RE will cause a pillar to fall and crush a merc. Maybe instead of this item magicly going away after X seconds it stays there for the rest of the match. |

I think having a disorientation feature would be nice, but ragdoll would make things ridiculous. The suits are reinforced to prevent ragdoll from happening, but even so, we are still human (vaguely) and thus our senses can be overloaded. Maybe a grenade going off nearby causes everything to get blurry, and a flux grenade causes the HUD to flicker. But ragdoll would end badly I think. |

Have a concussive force effect, like other shooters we will not mention, so as to wobble ADS and slow reaction to input, and to shake and obscure hip fire. But not coupled with a Mass Driver. Then they WOULD be OP... |

A MD already leaves behind a short lived smoke cloud and it glances your aim slightly off target in a random direction, but I agree that it does not need a buff in this respect.
I would actually like to see locust grenades slow your movement speed and turn speed for a couple seconds as well as rock your vision. Perhaps even throw up a 5 second dust cloud that can be used for covering your escape or rushing across a street without being directly visible.
I'd like to see fluxes blank out your HUD for about 10 seconds and make your vision staticy (like the snow you'd get on an old school TV) for a second, then gradually come back to normal over the space of 5 seconds. I'd also like to see them short out CRU's and supply depots for 10 seconds, making completely inaccessible.
But for those to happen, locusts would need a damage nerf and all grenades would need a carry and resupply nerf.
And more than that, I'd like to see similar things happen when you are next to an exploding vehicle or an impacting rail round or even missile turret explosions.

Yes, with destroyable environment, grenade causes a hole in the ground etc. |

Not quite it, this isn't about postmortem ragdolling. This is about impacts and shock waves having an effect on people when they survive it.

I think it was mentioned some time ago that the Unreal engine isn't capable of destructible environments :( |

+1 like the idea and could create a whole new role of weapon as of now all weapon are ment to be lethal, but if weapons like massdrivers, nades, forge slash, splash in general did less damage and knocked the target about distorting vision perhaps even causeing affects to the target they need to shake off like being disorintated or knocked down at a high end would create weapons based around suppressing the target rather than 100% killing, for this i would recommend making suppression kill assist worth more than assist maybe 30 to 40 pionts?.
Another thing is effects should be bases on how big the thing that just effected the person was and what suit is being used, with light frames being effected most and heavy being effected least perhaps being immune to knock down they only get staggered, tanks would probably not even notice a explosion next to them.

Smoke grenades, concussion grenades, air-fuel grenades, etc. would all make interesting additions as well as flux, smoke, and double tap RE's/proxy mines. But I would just like to see additions to the existing system first. |
