When you look at measurements via targeting crosshairs, it gives your targets distance from you in meters. However, if you take a single step forward, you travel one meter. Unless all dust mercenarys move a whole meter per step, the meters are actually feet. That being said, our weapons have a range of a few dozen feet, not meters... |

Dust mercenaries are actual based off of james cameron's avatar and everything around them is to scale so you do not notice. |

I'm pretty sure that the distances are correct... the average step length in people is about 1m. And since we're all running instead of stepping... you get my point.

nahh i dont mean sprinting, i mean just moving. like, move the anolog stick up one step is a meter. But a meter is 3 feet i dont think most ppl travel a meter per step in RL right? take the bait of RL all you want trolls its still wierd |

I don't know about you, but in real life I take larger than 1 foot steps. Also in Dust 514 our characters aren't exactly walking.
You are actually experiencing a visual illusion phenomenon that occurs because of the placement of the camera. Meters are meters. |

I've noticed this too, the house I live in is 10 meters wide and 30 meters in dust looks less than the width of my house. |

Dust mercenaries are like 7-8 feet tall I think, that might explain it. I don't remember where I read this though. |

How many people, upon reading this thread, got off of their chair and starting walking to judge how far their steps are? |

Uhmm, NO Holden McNeil. IRL the average step length is approx 1m plus or minus depending on height. And we run in Dust when we move the analog stick, sprinting is just even faster running. |

I'd say an average persons step is longer than a foot but shorter than a meter. If I had to pick one it would be closer to a meter than a foot. |

My typical walking steps are a meter give or take. Exmaple they call a foot a foot because its about as long as a foot, not because that's the distance your foot travels when you put one foot in front of the other foot.

Keep in mind we're also seven foot tall alinbo superclones. Or something.
And like said above, we're pretty much running all the time. There is no 'walk' in dust. Running is larger strides.
Stupid lore excuses aside, there's probably some design reason for it, which we'll never know because ;ccp;

Average walking stride length for average person is 31 inches or 78.74 centimeters but this is dependant on the persons gender and I'd imagine height. Source (first I found)
Given that our clones are not all that average they most likely take longer steps. |
