As a scout, I hate tankers, but I would like to request a little more equitability for tankers because I feel sorry for them.
Right now, to go into Enforcer HAV's cost you a great abundance of SP (3,731,04 total to level out to Level 5) and each costs 1,227,600 ISK just for the base HAV without any equipment/modules. This doesn't include all the rest of the leveling SP that you need to get to use these behemoths (or at least what are supposed to be a behemoth.)
To use the highest/most powerful Swam Launcher, the cost of that is minuscule - a measly 47,220 ISK and to level up to use it you only need to spend 652,940 SP to level up enough to use this weapon.
It only of shooting twice to totally destroy an Enforcer tank; thought I know it can sometimes use more - depending on the map.
So why should anyone bother to go for leveling up this much to use something that takes so much time and funds to use. just to be so easily destroyed by someone that doesn't need to take even a quarter of the time or funds?
I feel sorry for anyone that has spent time and funds to get to use these tanks.

same reason people go into dropships.
they think it will be worth it, or that the rules don't apply to them. Even once you've tried it and swear to never use it again, you think again, well maybe it won't apply, or happen again, or it was just that once. if people want to do something, they are gunna, they will beg for respecs, and for buffs, and eventually will get it. but people are stuburn. that's just being a human |

Tanks can be incredible things if you use them properly. Yes, any good tanker knows the enforcer class is ****. Nuff said on that point.
Though properly fit for a high mitigation, a tank can be a deadly thing.
Used properly in battle, utilizing terrain and structures around, a tank will survive.
Knowing and understanding the limits of your tanks damage limit allows a tank to remain a deadly force on the field, while surviving at the same time.
When I take damage, I move. Away from the source of damage until I can fully asses the threat before me.
Tanks are worth it for those with the skill and patience to learn the trade.
Enforcers, are not tanks that are really worth it unless you have extra SP laying around.
1.5 will bring tanks some loving (If they don't make them worse then they are).

Agreed, all people need to do to take out a tank is coordinate with their team to take it out. Just 2 people with AV can take out the standard tanker with good coordination. People calling for nerfs on the tank are ridiculous because they do it because its not easy to kill a tank and it never should be. Just because one is to lazy to pull out a militia swarm starter fit with some friendly AV to help blow an enemy tank up is ridiculous. I can call for nerfs to the damn swarm if I want but I know that if I blow up by a swarm its because I either made a mistake or they had great AV coordination. This is all it takes for anyone to blow up a logi LAV or tank. Stop calling for nerfs on them people and just try to do something that's not easy for once, because life ain't easy so why should a game be easy too?

I would like some more manoeuvrability and acceleration though. |

I am just waiting for 1.5, then I will go find a game that has good tanks.
If I get my SP refunded I could use it else where. You know, to something that CCP/Shanghai wasn't actively trying to break. |

Tanks should roll with supporting teammates. If you had logistics repping you, and squadmates taking out the AV infantry, you can pretty much guarantee a win. People who want tanks to be indestructible lone-wolf gods are crazy. They should be great weapons with the proper support but vulnerable without it. You have to remember that when they kill 10-20 mercs in a round it can easily add up to more ISK than what they cost. They inflict a lot of pain, as they should, but it's also why they need to be painful to loose. |

Honestly, after running numbers on the shield and armour durability for vehicles, it's easy enough to get a adv swarm launcher to take out a basic fit in 2 shots, and a solid fit to 5-6 shots. This means that with 2 people with AV grenades, or 2 people with swarms, ANY vehicle in the game can be dropped in one encounter. The reason is that you can have 2 volleys in the air before the first one hits. The driver has ~2.5 seconds to activate any modules not already running.
In this light, I feel sorry for vehicle specialists who have to spend so much ISK, and be so easily killed by some coordination. The trouble is their ability to respond to a confrontation, or lack thereof. |

That's a shame that CCP programmers have allowed things to be so uneven in many places, especially with vehicles.
And here everyone was yelling (crying) about taxi kills. While I agree, to some extent, but the unbalancing has gone into many other areas too; but the tanks seem the most to me. This is why I'm not going with any tank leveling - at least at this time, that is until things seem more balanced. |
