Still I was part of duni until some days ago pretty much because they want to tax us for expenses that only a FEW can enjoy, and although the general playerbase is cool and enjoyable there is a rising tide of high and mighty, selfentitled ah*les who think they can boss newberries around... |

@CHIKANO
It's not really a tantrum. I have read every mail sent out and most of them are just friendly reminders. But sometimes the directors or CEO needs to be stern on making sure that the alliance chat is not used by Dust players for the time being. Currently the alliance chat is strictly for use by Eve Online players only until further notice. Besides, the IVY LEAGUE alliance relies on that channel for putting together fleets. To clutter it up with random players posting LFS or RF1 on the channel will not help the alliance in any way except be annoying especially considering that the alliance is rather large. |

the public channel is chat.d-uni also eve uni has their public channel e-uni but you would have google that one to find it but it is possible to communicate to each other. I don't think dust can see corp descriptions which would make finding these things easier. Maken tosch already covered why we aren't allowed to use allaince chat. I hope we get joint operations that require dust mercs to be in eve fleets. That'll be a good day in dust 5+years from now. |

dust playeres can use any of the eve chats. As an alumni of eve university for example I can get in their private chat channle they use for day to day banter and chat with them. Entertaining to make a nice splash of blue for the pod pilots. if you didn't know their default setting causes dust players to show up blue. |

Keep in mind that the policy might get changed in the future if the Eve-Dust integration becomes more meaningful in a way that encourages Eve and Dust players to use the alliance chat. But that decision will be left to the directors and CEOs of Eve-Uni and Dust-Uni. |

You don't have to put it like that. Overall, the vast majority of the IVY LEAGUE alliance is practically Eve Online corporations. The alliance chat could become useful if, as an example, faction warfare gets overhauled and then perhaps privileged Dust players can call in some help from above for a faction match. Who knows? We'll just have to wait and see. |

It not a matter of "don't talk to neckbeards", I'm sure some of them are actually almost like people. (Of course, this is only a theory)
In larger corps, Alliance chat is usually reserved for "Official Business" interactions.
It honestly shouldn't be available to anyone below a Dust-side director.

The ALLIANCE chat is allowed to be used for more than just the EVE players. Alliance chat IS allowed for regular chatting, if your alliance doesn't comprise of a few thousand pilots. In larger alliances, it's always important to have a medium of official communication that doesn't get cluttered up with random sperging by scrubs going "RF2" "LFS PROTO ASS". Some alliances decide to alliance chat because it's real time. Some alliance don't have that rule, and some do.

Just imagine this, your only chat channel is alliance chat, EVE pilots get all the chat channels. You only get 1. You want to look for a squad but each time you post "LFS", it gets drowned out by "frigate fleet going on patrol at blah blah blah system" then you have no way of getting an organized squad together In a reasonable amount of time.
Now from an eve point of view. Alliance chat is used for mostly class times, lecture times and of course, fleet movements. That is all, it's not a hard rule. We have numerous chat channels for just that: chatting. The letters the OP is referring to is most likely because we had a large income of new members. Whenever this happens, there is always a flurry of mail sent out. |

There is quite a few corps in our alliance, though not much EVE side. However, we have separate channels that have been created that only certain people are invited to... mostly for organizing PC battles with players who are ready and capable. Would it really be too difficult to just do something similar??? Then you have no need to tell people not to post in a certain channel... simply because they won't be in it at all if its for EVE use. I mean its really rather hilarious that you limit players from looking to squad up with alliance members since your too lazy to create a channel for exclusively for important information and EVE side war planning. |

Allow me to illuminate a couple facts for you:
1. Dust University is the ONLY Dust 514 corporation in the Ivy league alliance. 2. Im aware of SIX d-uni channels available to members 3. ALL Dust University mercs are kindly asked to not use the alliance chat. Ive lost track of the times ive received that corp-wide mail...
To summarize: @lazy Custom chats have existed for ~6months @hilarious No other merc corps in alliance to miss out on squadding with @noneed Currently no need to post in alliance. Auto-boot after 3rd blatant incident is the current line in the sand
1300+ member find this simple request easy to follow, however there will always be those who prefer not to be oppressed by such draconian elitism..we wish them the best.

STEALTH HUNTER ZERO wrote:Would it really be too difficult to just do something similar??? Then you have no need to tell people not to post in a certain channel... simply because they won't be in it at all if its for EVE use. I mean its really rather hilarious that you limit players from looking to squad up with alliance members since your too lazy to create a channel for exclusively for important information and EVE side war planning.
I know several chat channels right off the bat that d-uni directors have established for such a use. Yet we do occasionally see players posting lfs requests in the alliance chat. Thankfully, since we have a good structure in place, not many members commit that mistake. Most of those that do tend to learn really fast not to do it again. |

Every time I deploy against DU they use LLVs and OP gear it's gotten to the point where whenever I see them on the other side i warn my squad that they'll be using bs tactics.
What are yall teaching your boys over there, how to be an ass?

Lame. We all know that the Uni should use under-powered gear and just stand there so you can shoot them.

The alternatives are: trying to get hundreds of people in corp chat to be quiet so you can talk, and trying to get hundreds of people to join and stay in a player made chat channel. Neither of those are really feasible on the scale that Eve Uni operates, so sacrifices must be made. |
