I'm not the CEO of my corp but I am the only director. Our CEO hasn't been on the Dust for a while now and it doesn't look like he will be anytime soon (busy with uni and Minecraft) so I'm looking to take on the progression of the corp for the time being.
What I want to know is, if I spend my SP on unlocking the Corporation skill tree, which purely means that more people can join the corp, is that going to work or is it just the CEO who does that. I assume as a director it would work but I don't want to waste any precious SP!

Pretty sure it's just the CEO.
Honestly, you might be better off taking as much of the company wallet with you as you can and using it as seed money for a new corp run by yourself and other members of your current corporation. |

I'm friends in real life with the founder of the corp so I'm not going to take the funds and start again - so you think it's just the CEO that can increase the corp population? Anyone know for sure? |

10000000% positive, absolutely and for certain, it is only the CEO dude.
Tell your IRL friend to GTF on his account and update his corp management skill.
Or you guys can just do what a lot of people do, start an EvE online account, and make that account your CEO so that you don't have to waste Dust-side SP on corp skills.
For a small monthly Dust-side fee, I can provide a CEO-for-hire character EvE side and you can grow your corp to be as large as you want. Seriously. |

Cool, thanks for the replies. I'll get him to tear himself away from Minecraft for 5 minutes to upgrade the corp skill. Saves me having to spend the SP myself although it's not a big cost |

you could also make an alt... put the sp for corp on that and not waste the sp on your main.... but your friend would have to make your alt CEO |

Yea, if your friend doesnt have the time for CEO duties at least an hour a day he shouldnt be CEO, take that role yourself then make an alt to be your CEO and just spend the starting 500k + any passive sp on upgrading the corp skill |
