Get out on the ground, fine. You might not feel very much when walking/sprinting around.
But the act of flying a dropship in PC is most of the time as if driving through a sky of molasses. Makes dodging shots, maneuvers , timing, get away speed estimations completely untenable.
Got lucky and that RDV spawned a few feet away instead of inside you this time? Tough luck, you're still getting hit. Been hit by a forge and know a good trick to dodge the next? Well, you'll pull it off a couple seconds after the second round bursts you into flames.
Want to aim properly at anything smaller or more mobile than a turret installation ? Good luck.
Why is this though? Has anyone else noticed this? And don't come here saying its my internet connection. Pubs are smooth as ICE. |

Yeah does this happen to anyone else?
It must, and it makes using a DS in PC a total waste of time and money. Its simply unplayable. |

I feel as if the PC server(if that makes sense) can only handle so much and dropships seem to be something that it can't handle as well as small infantry and millions of spawn uplinks
doesn't make much sense now that i think about it |

Well it is a problem with the PC server. And something about DS which is different than players.
updating unit location ? You'd think that would present itself as lag for others rather than the pilot itself. Does it force the client to slow down so it can sync better? If so that's terrible for anything high speed. Scouts, jeeps, dropships, jets. etc.

it's nearly unplayable with a single dropship |

Yep.
The ****ty thing is this isn't something you can demonstrate well with a video. You have to play it and feel it, because its a relativistic thing.
So when CCP comes out and says "HerpDerp, send us a video of the 'bug' and we'll Look Into it". All we'll be able to do is come back and say, why don't you play test your own game for 10 minutes?
To which there will be no reply since we all know they have never and will never do that. |

My own experience of flying in PC battles (both by myself and with another pilot) is that it will be relatively smooth, then hit a major spike just when you need a tight framerate. |

Or maybe you don't really notice it's a problem till your life is immediately on the line |

Dropship controls suck badly. The person who designed them probably has never heard of a aircraft in his or her lifetime. |

I have a feeling it is about how the map renders textures and map assets. From what it sounds like, there is a kind of passive 'soft load' of assets in the distance, but based on your proximity to the assets, a whole socket may or may not be actively loaded with higher resolution graphics as you get closer. Presumably this is to optimize performance. I'd try turning down graphics settings as a lot of these stream off of your HD apparently. See how that is and let us know.
By the nature of the speed and travel direction/distance of dropships they would cycle in and out of loading/preloading/ cacheing/dumping a lot of these art assets a lot more than someone on foot.

maybe a bit more speed for the assault variant and mobility would do well, aside from the usual buff |

Controls are the only good thing about DS. They require no changes whatsoever. Except for the active module radial menu |

But IF that was the case, you would expect the same HD-texture loading performance from any game. Why then would PC be terrible and Pubs perfectly fine? |
