Alright, so i'm a little new to the tanking and I can't turn back now. I have put over 1 million into my tank already and I really feel like the fit I have now isn't strong enough to keep swarms from easily destroying my costly tank. I've seen shield tanks on the opposing team that literally cannot be destroyed by swarmies. My squad got so fed up with that tank so we all decided we'd get the swarm launchers and they did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to that tank, (There were like 6 ppl with swarm launchers) his shield went down just a notch. The thing that bothers me is that, people with militia launchers can just as easily stalk and kill me then the advanced launchers.
I just want some suggestions on how I can get my shield tank better than what it is now. Anyone have advice or fits for a newbie tanker?
My fit: (2x )Resistance amps (supplemental) (1) Heavy converse shield booster (1) Heavy shield extender (1) Shield Extender
(2) Beta PG expansions
Turrets (2x) cycled missles 80GJ scattered blaster
Is this a good fit? Could you give some advice on how I could improve?

I haven't a clue how to shield to tank but I find a die more to forges in my armor tank then swarms (forges are weaker against armor better against shield) and now I find a shield tanker who gets killed by swarms more than forges.
Here's a link to a YouTube video I found while looking for fits shows a passively and actively hardened Gunnlogi (not sure which one will act as a link, if not just copy and paste the URL below into search)

Your fit mainly suffers from only having 1 million SP... Your line of thinking is solid considering what you've fit on your tank conceptually it is just all terribly low-skill items....
More SP required. Also if you are running a gunnie, you might want to use a railgun even for up-close work, just a tip though.
Also all of this "Keep your fits secret" nonsense is just that, nonsense. For gunnies with maxed SP there is really only a handful of sane fits... HAVs are so horribly limited that unlike dropsuits there is very little deviation (for good fits, for #YOLO fits do whatever the hell you want). There is very little mysticism nor secrecy for shield HAVs, though admittedly armor HAVs have a smidge more room for variance.
PM me in-game and I will give you solid fits for rails, blasters and missiles (that will require more SP)... Sometime in the next few days. |

Why thank you. Not trying to "*****" but I just figure you should get what you paid for, if you have a militia swarm launcher, you shouldn't be able to just as easily destroy my tank like those who actually earn the right to, by putting all their SP into destroying tanks. |

You only have a million into vehicles?
I'd suggest going for something different.
If you're dead-set on sticking with it, there's a bunch of us that can help you. For now, use cheap tanks in a very controlled environment, like using a Sica at the beginning of a match to take out a few turrets, then recall it so you don't lose it.
Also sounds like you already put SP into turret operation. Your first 8 million must go into vehicle upgrades. Ignore turret operation and vehicle command for a long time. Work on making your vehicles stronger, increasing its defenses. If you're up against a really bad team, use a tank with a blaster when they're redlined. Or if you want to try using rail, learn to use it without needing zoom at medium ranges. That way you aren't fully concentrated on the zoom, but can provide instant attention to moving should you need to. I'm better now with that than I was a month ago, because keeping the ISK is more important than using zoom. |

I'd argue that one point into turret skills is a good way to maximise fitting, just to get access to STD gear (unless I've misunderstood, in which case disregard. |

You're wrong, every soma I went up against failed. I had at least 9 fights with soma's. Now, I can't beat a mag once they activate their hardener so I try to keep out of non-militia tanks way. I knew what type of tank I wanted to build, and it wasn't a tank vs tank fit, it was a tank vs infantry fit. The problem i'm having, once again, is that I have exhausted my PG and can't fit anything useful. I need a good fit or at least a point to the right direction. Now if you want to keep yours secret, that's fine, but i'm not going to keep experimenting with a tank that is costly. As soon as I earn the isk, it leaves. |

I'd argue that one point into turret skills is a good way to maximise fitting, just to get access to STD gear (unless I've misunderstood, in which case disregard) Best off slowly going into turrets. Obviously, small turrets are an afterthought because on a tank, he's not going to use them except in rare cases he's alone in his tank, and some dumb red dot decides to jump on the turret.
In Chromosome, I worked on the core upgrades first. I started using Aurum hulls and turrets before skilling higher into operation. When I put the Aurum PRO turrets on the Madrugar for the first time, and realized what I could do, I said to myself "now I get it."
Vehicle upgrades are first and foremost. If you have a decent Sica with shield skills at 3, you'll do well against guys with MLT AV. |

theres a tiny bit of fit variety and unfortunatly its not a matter of what better, but rather whats better for individual circumstance
you have
buffer (2x heavy extenders + small extender) with 2 resists of choice (or 3 active or passive) heavy rep (heavy extender heavy repper + small exxtender 2 resists or 3 resists) small rep (2 heavy extenders + small rep + 2 resists of choice)
theres really not all that much you chan change outside of those 3 themes, the big differences come from what resists you use passive or active and in what combinations.
buffer is usually used when you have someone else with a shield transfer module |

It's going to take you a long time to get the sp you need I run a Madrugar and I have basically everything I want for my fit but not the pg and it will take me a two or three months to get that. Its easy to get up to lvl III in all of the shield modules but getting to level V will take painfully long tanks require lots of sp. I would suggest upgrading vehicle shields to level 5 each level should give about 100 extra shield increasing your survivability a little bit. I am not sure what is happening to tanks in 1.5 as far as modules and new tanks go so I'm saving my sp almost have 700k saved, there will also probably be a blaster nerf because people think it's unfair a bullet the size of your fist kills them in 4 shots. |

My Madrugar fit is one polycrystalline 180 millimeter plate one light repper then three active N-1 type hardeners and a shield booster to better survive swarms and it works pretty well. A similar Gunnlogi fit would be the best shield extender three active shield hardeners (cheap sp and isk) and the shields version of a repper I think it's called a regenerator. I am however unware if shield hardeners are better than their passive counter part. |

Shield hardeners are a pain to me. They are no good giving the fact they only last 10 seconds and have a 30 second wait. And yes, I use the shield booster as a defense by turning it on when I see the swarms coming, and my health barely goes down. But that's only for 10 seconds. Without the booster, i'm as good as dead. |

for my anti infantry blaster tank I run as follows
light clar booster 3x resistance wards(15%) heavy aso extender
2x Local power diag (7%)
scattered ion cannon two st missiles
I have the pg/cpu skills maxed however I would recommend working towards getting the 15% resistors first along with best pg upgrades will really help vs swarms this fit works fairly well for me, just recall and bring out a better tank if you run into tanks. also don't try and beef your way through people with this fit. |

Hes talking about the Breach Forge.
Damn monster got me with it once, but that was in my Gunnlogi, I dare him to try it on my Madrugar.
I usually run 2 Shield Boosters on my Gunnlogi (Heavy and Low), haven't changed my fit in a while, but if you have the SP, get Nitrous Boosters, damn things have save my Madrugar when it had <500 Armour plenty of times.
It'd also come in useful if you find yourself ambushed by a Madrugar, just activate it and drive, and pray that he hasn't got one too. |

You might not have access to the right gear so, get the next best thing you do. Also, you might not have enough PG/CPU initially. Can't fit a stabilized ion cannon on that, it's over 1500 PG. |
