Only a few more months, guys, and we can have our game back. Yes, they'll leave. But then they'll come back after realizing the meaninglessness of it all. |

And if Dust goes PC, it will kill PS3 base. No one wants to be target practice for KBM goons. I think there's an awful lot of peeps who pop back in to DUST every couple of months or so just to see how things are going. If the next two patches do their job, some small percentage of those peeps will stay.
I think some of the peeps who tried DUST(maybe 25%) understood the potential and where CCP could take this if they could just get their sheet together and make the core work. They're the ones who keep checking in.
And the rest will eventually try again through word of mouth and rising review scores. A lot of those reviewers who gave DUST a low score were being absolutely honest, but personally, many reviewers wanted DUST to succeed. They will be quick to re-review DUST as soon as we dig ourselves out of this hole.
What gives my argument weight is this: 3,751,792 mercenaries! form Chribba's dustboard: http://dustboard.com/global/
I'll be the first to say that's a grossly inflated number, but it's a big number. |

Your logic is flawed. That amount of mercs made includes those made by us who have multiple alts. Secondly, out of all those mercs made, almost none of them even play the game anymore. Most folks that were going to try out it, did so, and then left. We are all that is left with the exception of a few noobs once in awhile that trickle in and stay, but most don't. I'll be the first to say that's a grossly inflated number, but it's a big number. |

The hero art is almost a turn off too.
Its like bungie forgot how to make armored people look heroic. There's nothing iconic about most of the characters and I find it extraordinarily sad the enemies are far more interesting to look at and to associate with.
I mean its not like they should ran out of ideas, look at war frame for example dozens of different classes yet each one unique iconic to its own. Hell Dust 514 has a far better imposition of our own character archetypes. I want to spend time in Destiny, but only enough to get a solid handle on what they achieve with their core shooter mechanics. Mostly for purposes of comparing with DUST.
I really want to see what they choose to do with players from different regions and how lag affects the gun game in Destiny.
The world building and party building and mission aspect with coop encounters don't really do it for me. I see elements of Warhammer, AOC, and Defiance in Bungie's choices, I've tried all that before and meh.
What might save it all is the pvp, and if they can sucessfully integrate that into the larger world. I'm thinking they can't, but we'll have to wait and see. |

Hipster?
There is a reason CoD is the most succesful FPS on the market. But if you want to hate on it because you can't handle it....
Then I have only this to say... Eat **** loser.
Take any and EVERY FPS ever made to date, and compare it to CoD. And you will proabably, if you don't let your ****** mentality get in the way, Realize that CoD has more depth, better controls, better maps, more players, more weapons, more options than ALL OF THEM!
What does Counter Strike have that CoD doesn't? What does Wolfenstein have that CoD doesn't? What does Halo have that CoD doesn't? What do any of them have?
Whatever you may come up with, CoD has done it... and did it better.
Let's look at what other FPS's have.... A lower player count? Stupid playlists that mix slayer gametypes into each and every playlist making every playlist a team slayer playlist? Or maybe playlist called Action Sack, which the community tries to explain is a perfect substitute for server browsers and custom gaming?
Hating on CoD makes you look stupid. It does not make you cool, it does not make you smart.... IT MAKES YOU LOOK STUPID!
Especially when most of you don't even have a reason to hate on it other than... It stays very much the same game as the last with every itteration.
I wonder why?!?!?!?!
Because you don't fix what aint broke! That is why it stays the same and ever so slowly improves with each one.
What the hell do you want out of CoD? For them to turn it into an RTS instead? Then it will no longer be CoD at that point.
If a game like Dust with it's ******** timesink is what classifies as innovation in the FPS arena.... You're mental.
I'm actually glad that Dust is failing. Because I want it to send a message to other devs on what not to do. Which is pretty much everything.
The timesink The bland maps The oversized maps The amount of vehicles The amount of time it takes to kill The amount of teamwork required to enjoy yourself
Everything about this game is a fail.
Because lets be honest. An FPS that requires you to have to schedule beforehand to get your "Friends" online, so that you can finally play and actually enjoy it..... is a fail. Sometimes you have to think about the individual. This is why CoD is great, because it allows you to enjoy yourself as an individual and as a member of a team.
Dust fails because it forgot about the individual.
And you cannot forgot about the individual when you take in the context of what you are trying to make.
An FPS, on a console, being played over the internet. HELLO!?!?!?! +1. My feeling is that these observations re the individual are right on the money. It has to be the starting point.
And then you provide all the slippery-slope access points into New Eden that you can and let nature take it's course. |
