Is there a reason to try and PTFO, or even attempt to win a pub match in any fashion? Wouldn't it be just as beneficial to hack all the turrets, CRUs, and Supply depots, and go for as many kills as possible without risking your suit to a death?
From what I've seen, your ISK and SP gain are the same win or lose, so why try to win a pub battle; by MCC or Clone Count? |

Because winning is fun. The reason we play games is to win, to out gun, out think, out play, out match an opponent, to be better than someone else, and to have fun, not rack up points. Everyone takes things too seriously, just play and have fun. |

What's the incentive to win in Battlefield, Call of Duty, Crysis?
It's fun.

In those games you get more XP (SP) and rewarded for winning. In pubs on DUST, you don't. So why risk your clone to danger when it doesn't matter? |

Well something needs to be tuned. The "fun" incentive isn't working.
I think it is a financial decision. I wish I were more of a pu$$y in video game land. I'd have a lot more isk if not for the urge to fight even harder when the blueberries are hiding. |

They seriously need to start giving an ISK Victory Bonus. Something like an extra 150,000 ISK for winning would incentivize people a bit more to win. |

You're absolutely right. If a battle is turning bad fast, I don't just throw more ISK and deaths into the battle because it serves no purpose whether it counts as a win or a loss. I play to survive and not so much to win. |

This would totally to do it. Right now I just don't care if we win or lose, I just care if I'm positive KDR and the number of suits I lost. Long as I make money then winning is irrelevant. If winning gave more bonus than I'd care...maybe. |

Winning a public match is irrelevant. Its all about KDR. KDR is the only stat that is important in public matches. Anyone who says otherwise is not good enough to have a good KDR
Dust has the perfect format to encourage wanting to go for the win too. Hopefully someday they stop being so carebear about it and give better rewards to the match winner. This is supposed to be a CCP/EVE game after all isnt it!? |

Yes, it's a CCP/EVE game, but don't forget EVE is open world free roam whereas DUST is lobby shooter. |

Of course winning is fun. But the concept of winning is not the same for everyone. Some people will feel as winners if they get 30/0 K/D in a match, even if their team lost horribly. Especially in pub matches where there really isn't any benefit for team victory. As far as pub matches go, and as far as personal incentive is concerned, it's pretty much "every man for himself".
Players should be rewarded for winning a match. Even better, players should be rewarded for attempting to win a match. Perhaps, there could be a ISK reward for every player at the end of the match (a multiplier of some kind), which is proportional to the opposing team's MCC damage. The winning side always gets maximum bonus, but the losing side is still rewarded for trying to win the formal objective. That way, losing side players would have a real incentive to attempt to go for objectives, and not just try to minimize their losses. |

Pub wins are hollow victories. The guy who sat in the mcc the whole match, or the sniper who got two kills the whole round get at LEAST 50% of the isk/sp payout I received. |

Aside from the lack of a significant difference in rewards from winning to losing I'm going to go with personal pride, because you know you're better than your enemy?

Oh hell yes, I would fight harder for more Isk. If Isk were easier to get, it would solve a lot of problems. |

Other than the thrill of victory, what incentive can you really get from a video game?
What about spawning into stomped matches? Should you be rewarded/penalized for those?
It could, at best, be a factor in earning PSN Trophies - if we had them. |

Winning in a pubmatch does not mean you are better. I t just means you won.
Its easy to win when half of the red dots you are playing against are sniping or sitting in the MCC, because they know they will be rewarded whether they win or loose. Self respect will not replace lost gear.

Only because CCP allows it.
