I've always wondered this and I figured since squad shared vision is getting changed...this was a good time to ask. |

I have no clue tbh.
It says they use dB but CCP logic, you'd never know. |

Guess they are saving that for when they add suppressors. |

can't find it now, but a dev confirmed a while back that running/jumping/shooting/crouching/slowwalking do not affect dB/profile appearance on minimap at all. |

I think they should though, especially if they're firing in your direction.
And vehicles should show up.
Also the scanner should work in 360-¦ instead if being limited to your field of view and have more range. |

My understanding is that it didn't. It's on here somewhere, I remember from when I was just lurking. |

Enemy chevrons appear on your minimap when:
(a) They are in range and your or one of your nearby teammates's passive scanning precision is low enough to pick them up. (b) You or a friendly has "spotted" (meaning looked at or targeted) an enemy and they are within range of your minimap. (c) You or a friendly has used an active scanner to pick them up.
In the next patch, the scanning still works the same but if your squad member picks someone up you won't see them unless they've used an active scanner. |

But in the same post i recall that said dev did say that enriching the scanning mechanics was something they were interesed in for the future. |

As a scout for all of uprising and a stealth assault before that, I really care about the radar. And after a year and some change of playing, I have no F-ing clue how it works. Maxed suit bonus on a scout and profile dampening (puts me at about 30 db), still have problems sneaking up on a sniping heavy. I've been seen around corners with no direct line of sight. I just don't understand how it works/doesn't work at all. I would say its very, very broken, but no one cares. |

This is the part I still find confusing. I mostly play solo and it does seem that reds light up when nearby blueberries spot them, so how does this relate to this "shared squad vision"? What advantages do squads get, or is this actually what is meant by it? I'm just wondering if this will also change for solo players or if we are talking about something completely different. |

If there was a dB profile boost to a suit from a module it should be a drawback of kincats not shields. But it would only apply when a player is sprinting.
STD/ADV/PRO +10%/+15%/+20% dB while sprinting. |

Squads will see a bunch of red dots only when an active scanner in the squad picks them up. Otherwise you will have to communicate locations and rely on your OWN passive scan and LOS.
I'm somewhat convinced that in public matches all unsquadded players are treated as being in the same squad for tacnet purposes. However for WP purposes they are in their own squad. |

That would make sense, but at the same time it's kind of hard to believe because that would put squads at a disadvantage to some extend.
It seems nobody really knows for sure and we're all just guessing? :) |
