It means that once 1.4 drops that folks that do not bother to pay attention to comms will die.??
It means that folks depending on the minimaps shared info will die.??
It means that folks running ninja fits just got a huge buff i.e. nonaknife users and ninja shotgun users.??
Perhaps now profile dampeners will have a use??
Perhaps precision modules/skills will now have a use??
Goes off to sharpen nova knifes. |

Yeah but shields are going to need two low slots for regulators, one for reppers and that leaves one slot for dampeners.
I am looking at an assault minmatar suit and hmmmmm? Shotgun nova knifes Built in repper. So one complex kin-cat and one complex dampener and very fast movement.
Or hmmmm heavy suit repper kin cat dampener and nova knifes?? hmmmmm
Lots of new options.

And shield tankers are already strapped for CPU. So throwing an extra 20-30 CPU requirement just for being able to sneak around wouldn't seem as good of a payoff as a kincat, stammod, or an armor repairer in that same slot. |

In the devblog yesterday they said that new actions will be added to the list of those that get WP's. I imagine scanners will be included in that. |

Yeah I really hate that squad vision is off because all of the dampeners and enhancers are in the low slots and thus I have to choose between a easily detectable crap tank, or a even worse tank so I can remain hidden. |

I was messing with this yesterday and am convinced that it is key to beating the zerg-swarm. It takes some practice, and is probably best on the faster suits than the amarr-logi which is what I have. I think they need to work on the way grenades and mines hit things when you are aiming down though. Often I'm above something trying to throw a grenade and it will just bounce off of mid-air like there was floor I didn't see. |

I like being able to sneak around with my active scanner now. The other day I kept getting killed before I could sneak up on a heavy.
I hate not getting info unless from my squad anymore...ohhhh well. |

It just seems like suits with <3 slots wouldn't be wise to fit them, unless they already had some high base HP (amarr logi), or they had the speed already that sacrificing a slot for another kincat/stammod would be okay (scout).
BTW for medium suits:
MLT/STD dampeners or dampening V will hide you from STD scanners. ONLY PRO dampener AND dampening V will hide you from most ADV scanners. and hiding from PRO scanners is nearly impossible unless you use all 3 lowslots. |

Logi suits have built in complex rep at proto. Why would you have 2xrep for 90 armour? |

Active scanner results are still shared. People will probably want to squad with one person in an LLAV with a scanner equipped. |

From the patch notes:
* Shared passive scanner vision for squads disabled (results of active scanners are still shared with squads)
I'm assuming that this applies to vehicle scanners. So yeah, obviously I haven't seen it for myself but judging by the notes I'd say that only squad mates share active scan results, not teammates. |

Why assume that this involves vehicles?
I.e. in 1.3 and before profile dampening and precision skills were borderline useless since all it took was a single redberry using LOS and that was it you were on everybodys enemy tacnet minimap.
Now with passive detection no longer being shared you either need to use squad comms to say hey!! enemy ninja HMG heavy on your six or use an active inantry scanner.
I like the new changes since it validates skill investments in profile dampening and precision.
But then lets see if what we are told in patch notes is really whats going on. |

Well when they say active scanner I assume they meant all active scanners.
A vehicle scanner you have to switch on should fall in the active scanner category. I would have thought the scanning mechanics would be general enough that changes to the way they work would apply to all scanning.
But I'm not going to pretend this is anything other than assumption on my part so yeah, I'll be waiting to see if this is actually how it works as well. |
