Instead of a reset to Day 0 due to a day of inactivity, why not One Step UP for each day of activity and one step DOWN for each day of inactivity? So if you have max daily activity bonus, and go out of town for two days for the family vacation, then when you come back you will be on Step 5 of the 7-step bonus scale.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, the system I propose encourages people to get back online 'as soon as they can' if RL requires they miss a day of logging on. Easily proven due to the psychology of 'loss aversion' which indicates people are more sensitive to the threat of loss than to the promise of gain.
A player is more willing to get online to avoid losing something (another step down the scale) than they are just to gain something (start the scale all over again).
As it stands now, real life crops up and you cannot log on one day. Your Daily Activity Bonus is reset back to day 0. The system as referenced in the dev blog "punishes" players with a real life; not even 'casual' players, but players that can't get on one day for any number of reasons. It's just... not cool. It is much friendlier as something you can 'charge up' that slowly loses 'charge' than as a measure of compelled consecutive daily logins.

It's not actually clear that it's reset to step one if you miss a day, unless I failed to read the devblog carefully.
Personally I'm not impressed very much by the whole concept of rewards to being able to log in daily. But they rewards are so tiny it's never going to make a difference. 6k per day = 42k per week = 180k per month. That's barely a lvl 3 skill. |

This is a solid suggestion from a gamedesign perspective and also solid application of psychology. You deserve a like.
It is indeed much better to spread the loss out to a couple of days. Missing one day just happens when you have a life and then there's no loss from not logging in the next day. Spread that guilt, that way it'll nibble at the player's mind much more. |

Absolute's POV suites me the most. All your suggestions here are solid and valid, but are a little over-anxious about a component that hasn't made itself truly clear to us yet, and (I suspect) won't aid in the SP grind enough to praise or curse.
The SP grind is a deliberate mechanism since before May 14, and I've settled into its reality enough that I won't ask nor expect CCP to give me further handouts in earning them. The Passive SP feature already in place seemed more "charitable" than I would've expected from CCP, after experiencing firsthand how wonderfully merciless the rest of Dust's player advancement system is.
My feedback is simply that we have to see it in operation first. It seems a miniscule SP assist either way it's explained, but it's too early to get our verdict.

You guys will never be satisfied, will you?
They give us a triple sp week, and people complain they want another one.
They give us free daily SP just for logging on, and people complain it's not enough.
They give us a patch every month, and people say that CCP takes forever.
I'm livid as to how people treat handouts around here. |

Yeah, it's free SP and you guys are complaining about it?
Think of it as being half as good as a passive (so long as you log in) and you don't have to spend a dime to get it. |

I think the idea is a small incentive just to login. Why does that matter?
Well, not all of us are forum goers up on Dust News. They're updating the client so that you'll get more information on events, sales, etc. So, getting you to login makes it more likely you'll be aware of events, etc. It incentivizes the login process to hopefully improve penetration of their various messages at the same time.
Even at max, it's not a lot of SP, but if it gets people on long enough to learn about Event X, then I guess it does its job. |

Maxed out, it's about half the SP you gain from a normal Active booster, so a 50% boost to your active booster if you want to think of it that way. It's not a tiny amount, and I'm not complaining about it (I need SP a lot less than others do...) just throwing out possibly helpful suggestions and observations. |
