Why is it that sometimes 2 waves of Orbital kills my tank from full HP and then sometimes I can survive through the whole 6 or so waves of the Orbital? I don't play EVE, that's why I am asking... |

Could be hardeners not working as expected I do feel sometimes my tank just feels weaker than normal. Or more likely you took two devastating direct hits compared to just splash from 6 hits. |

Well, it depends on the OB type. If it is a Starship strike, and is the laser, yea, it's a 2-4 hit KO, but the hybrid ones unless skilled up on EVE side, or precision strikes, then it's easily avoidable or tankable. Wait, why are you trying to sit under a OB? That's stupid. |

Who said I am trying to sit under orbital? If I have stopped for whatever reason and then get orbital thrown at me 9 out of 10 times I can either get out of it in time or just sit there not noticing that I got orbital on me (reppers on and in ADS in which case you can hear the orbital but not see it) but that 1 time out of 10 I am dead before I even begin to accelerate. EDIT: and if I happen to sit in orbital it is because I do not see it and in which case I usually only know that I have been hit with orbital is because someone in comms says something like "dude you just survived an orbital"... and then I'm like "wait, I was in orbital?" |

I don't run tanks but sometimes I see the same thing in my suit. I think orbitals do direct and splash damage. |

Compared to a Starship strike, it does about 50-75% power depending on skills. Weird, being a ******* cap ship. |

It does give you a "**** yea!" feeling, but it's just that you would be better off outside of the blast. |

Oh yeah and I am using KB&M so I cannot rely on active hardeners, I need to use passive modules. So I suppose sometimes I just take direct hits from the orbitals. |

Last time I checked it required EVE players to accept the orbital request. |

If I fired at you with a OB in my OB frig, you would get get popped in 4 hits. 3 with my OB destroyer. |

It's called precision strikes, which has nothing to do with Caps. |

I've been in orbitals where my dropsuit takes a couple hundred points of damage, but I'm able to run away too.
Not sure why. Magic is the only answer that makes sense to me anymore. |
