Hey CCP, honestly is this an acceptable number to you?
Heck you never even peaked past 10,000.
Were these really the numbers you wanted when you decided to call this a AAA massively multiplayer shooter,
" DUST 514 brings intense infantry combat, large-scale warfare, and deep character advancement to a free-to-play massively multiplayer shooter, exclusively on the PlayStation-«3
Wage war in the next generation of first-person shooters, where a single victory could prove the crushing blow to a galactic empire of thousands of online EVE Online-« gamers."
Its kinda embarrassing and sad really.
Hey if any thing you should feel good about one thing. In fact I want to thank you.
You have just given all new to FPS's Devs a road map of what not to do when making a AAA FPS, I hope they use you all as examples of how to screw a FPS up and avoid your mistakes at all cost.
That way we will not see garbage like this get released ever again.

That's consistent across all time zones, fluctuating up and down depending on where and when.
So 4000 - 5000 concurrent permanently implies around 15,000 active players. That's not bad for a game with so much competition.
I still remember the day when EVE broke 10,000. Was apparently big news. (God i'm getting old. That was 10 years ago) |

David Reid would like to substitute your reality with his own.
Quote:You know, as Dust continues to grow, there'll be millions of people playing a free-to-play shooter, and we're going to need to accommodate them...it still has to grow to accommodate what happens with Dust, what's going to happen with mobile, other appliances, applications, things we're doing - there's a lot of demand on that computer.
I for one would like a few kilos of whatever the heck David smokes. |

I guess it comes down to what you mean by "active" players. 15000 seems like a terrible small number. I bet thats # that login everyday. Id say DUST maintains a playerbase of 50-70k a week at least. Got to remember DUST really discourages gameplay once you cap so very few play everyday. |

There is a big siffrence between the number of players playing at any given time, and the number of unique logins throughout the day/week/month.

Your joking right......with so much competition? Are you talking about in game competition between players or competition in the FPS genre? Because if your talking about in game competition then your just kidding yourself. This game has little competition as the general player is worse in Dust than they are in COD or BF3. And PC (where the competition is supposed to exist) is now 90% melee glitchers and MDers.
Above all of this the fact still stands....there are more people logged on playing COD4 at one time then there is on Dust 514...... |

No, he's totally right. When I start playing a game, I quit my job and play 24/7 to make sure I'm always counted as a unique player in any census. I'm sure everyone else does that too...
*hold on, need to swap out my colostomy bag*
Anyhow, the important thing is that everyone playing an EVE-associated team shooter will definitely want to leave for a GTA game, because every Dust player has the exact same taste... and will gravitate towards an unrelated title. OP is smart, mark my words. 100% of us will leave the second it comes out, because that's how these things work.

That way we will not see garbage like this get released ever again. What you seem to be saying is that there aren't as many people playing the game as you would like to see. I agree that we need more different people to shoot at that maybe haven't been playing since closed beta or even open beta but consider the number of players playing during the betas at any one time we can conclude that the numbers haven't changed a whole lot, if anything they have gotten slightly smaller even if the number of accounts has tripled or quadrupled due to the release from only one account per system (NDA and EULA).
This game is in need of some serious work short term to make it attractive to new players and to old players alike, something that grabs their attention and holds it, the holy grail, something, anything other than more Neo Suits or new pay to use guns. The filler between the cracks. Bring PVE to DUST please.

Well when you think about it, this is still pretty much beta. Maybe they're waiting for all the trolls to drop out and get real feedback from the dedicated fellas? Either way, I have my full faith and confidence that CCP makes enough money to support this game for a really long time, on top of giving it a comeback when big fancy crowd-bringing features are in place. Mind you this money probably isnt from Dust. |
