The thing you have to remember is how the console market actually works. It's a known fact that many players will flock to the PS4, but a great number of other players will not really ditch their old consoles for probably the next 2-3 years. Even the PS Vita didn't immediately replace the PSP until about a year or two later mainly because of the price and lack of games when it first launched while the PSP is still a favorite among almost every PS fan because it can easily be hacked (as in jail breaking like you would a smartphone) and has a nearly unlimited line up of games for the PSP.
Of course, the PS Vita eventually caught on with the PSP in terms of available games. The PS3 also took a long while to replace the PS2 mainly because of the hefty price tag it had back then. $500 is not something most people would drop on a whim for a console these days. Now, considering that the PS4 now has a strong line up of games already at this stage and has an affordable price tag of $399, I can see the PS4 taking less time to replace the PS3 than the PS3 did to the PS2. |

Since this games problems can not be solved with better graphics.
I do think they should switch as soon as possible, Even you like it or not graphics is very important, and since we are in 2013 I should expect great graphic and good gameplay.
Graphics may play an important role, but gameplay and balanced mechanics are far more important than. It's too easy nowadays to make a shiny-looking game, but making the gameplay and mechanics excellent and balanced is the hardest part of all. And if the gameplay sucks and the mechanics are broken as hell then no one will like it. |

Among the game's problems is lag, though, which could potentially be solved.
A better console won't help if the battle servers are having problems. It's like upgrading from Dial Up to cable while Comcast is having problems with maintaining a steady service. |

It's like upgrading from Dial Up to cable while Comcast is having problems with maintaining a steady service. Are there any indications that there are server-side problems? Client-side, sure, CCP already admitted this. Network latency issues, absolutely. But I haven't seen any indications that the battle servers themselves can't cope.
I'm not sure how they work exactly. I only referenced the battle servers as an example. My point is that it won't matter if the console is better than the old one if there are any problem with the connection in general. In the case of Dust and it's occasional disconnects and glitched SP earning (negative SP anyone?) and stuff like that, who is to say these problems won't carry over to the PS4 when the time comes? This is why it's important for CCP to stabilize everything first before porting over to the new console. |
