You missed my point. I wasn't talking about that. I'm talking about the fact that CCP is giving us this much time to prepare before whatever it is they locked in the content reaches our cheetos-stained hands. |

And CCP Reykjavik has given Eve players over 2 months to prepare for some of the changes coming in Odyssey 1.1. Is it too much to ask for to know what will be coming in the next patch once the content is locked? Or maybe have the devs post some the changes they are planning so we can give some feedback to them earlier in the development process. |

I haven't seen anything in what they've given us about 1.4 that would indicate any major warning flags (Other builds like Uprising, and almost every build leading up to it there were some pretty obvious "OH GOD CCP, PLEASE DO NOT DO" which were too late to be actionable)
However, with 1.4, the only things that really give me cause to be unsure... Are the things that notes can't really explain.
Like the new aiming systems for DS3 and Mouse, the removal of suit turn speed limitations, and the new scanning/tacnet system. All of these things have the potential to be incredibly bad, though arguably not worse (Could things really get worse?) or they could be flat out awesome. It's impossible to say without getting firsthand experience with it, which isn't possible.
Some of the stuff though just generally lends the feeling of "Why did it take so many iterations of the system to come up with this, which sounds to be infinitely better than what we've had so far"
Overall... I think it's safe to say there isn't cause to be /worried/ ..... But I'd say the jury is still out on if people should be /excited/. We'll see when it lands. |

They may have heard it said before that X-patch is the make or break for their whole bloody game.
Well, this time it almost certainly is. As a vehicle user if they screw this up that will indicate the long term goals for vehicles in dust.
Balls this up, and anyone thinking Dust could be more exciting than every other infantry driven FPS, or who hoped to see some semblance of the ship-building coolness from Eve come into this via vehicle fittings will give up hope.
If they still think one kid with a militia FG should be able to take down or deny the entire map to a 20 million SP, 1.5 million ISK, 3 person assault dropship.... Then I heard of a few other games that look like a better way for us to waste our time with.

I heard 1.4 was more of drop-suit balancing pass. Have they done much more work on adjusting dropsuits than we've already heard about? Which isn't much.

They aren't touching vehicle balance in 1.4, they're aiming on that for 1.5 my good sir.
Edit : Kind of a drag to say, but while there is some infantry balance changfes going in... I can't really talk about it in detail until they do, or they give us permission to blab. Don't expect a complete overhaul like they want to do for vehicles though. |

i'm guessing this is for mouse... so people can do a 180 in a split second while DS3 users won't? If this is the case, then i've officially lost hope that CCP knows how to balance anything in this game, and are just poking around in the dark hoping to hit the nail on the head. |

Oh yay! Something trivial that means almost nothing to the in-game experience.
I remember when they said that 1.3 was going to be a balancing pass and 1.4 was going to be this massive thing that would change the game up. I really wish CCP would stop with the over promise/under deliver approach to community outreach.

It would be foolish to expect you are going to keep the hacking bonus, they've already stated they are changing the logi bonuses to be more equipment oriented.
But hey, you skilled into that hacking fit knowing it was more powerful than what min assault could do, guess you have to live with your choices now.
Stop being a little bitch and do what you told all of the cal logis to do, you are a logistics suit not an assault or hacking suit. You should be in the back with a repair tool and nowhere near hostile objectives. |

Nothing beats going hand-on and seeing how things pan out.
My expectation here, is that this will split the community according to choice of input hardware.
The only way I can imagine that one could attempt to balance this is with aggressive aim assist for DS3 only. |

as far as i can remember from snippets collected across the place... all suits will turn at the same rate now, this is probably tied into the new strafe model and the fixes to heavy' reverse and strafe.
so: turning will no longer be tied to suit type or base movement speed strafing will no longer be 1:1 will run speed iirc it will be 1.0:0.9 (run:strafe) as was intended but they let the 1:1 go instead of patching it after uprising release. Heavies have been suffering under something like a 1.0:0.5 (run/reverse) and 1.0:0.7 (run:strafe) ratio, apparenly this should be fixed and brought up to parity with other suits (1.0:0.9 ratio)
vehicle fixes in game update 1.5
btw.. i got all this by trolling through these forums :P |

ok right im going to give you fair chance to explain me why you have just proven yourself wrong. i don't like making people look silly when they are so sure they are right (hint its the time frame you have looked at)
remember kids data without context is still data.
and data with the wrong context and questions asked of it is bad information.

Heck EVE Odyssey 1.1 ALREADY GOT 10 DEV BLOGS (Might be more, 10 was last time I checked).
Is this the same company we're talking about? CCP only have one play. Hype > substance.
We're probably much better at picking the difference so they won't risk that hoping newberries turn up before reality hits.

On another thought if they are saying what is coming out in 1.4 at gamescon then it might be that they are implementing more things than we thought. I think we might have to take this as a good sign of a semi big unveiling and maybe they want to surprise the community.
I am Hopeful... Disappointed still that we haven't heard that much but hopeful. |
