I ask because in over a year of playing I can recall on one hand the number of times I have been revived and been thankful for it. I play heavy with 50-60k fittings and can honestly say if you see me on the ground, please leave me lie.
I appreciate what other players do as far as hives and repairing because their actions are a big help to heavies. However, reviving someone to get shot again is one of the lease useful, team killing activities in this game. You cannot help the team running into enemy fire to revive me at 50% health. I have been on both sides, both being revived in the middle of a firefight where the enemy is camping your body and being the camper. It's amazing that someone sees me drop their teammate with an HMG and thinks that crouching over their body for a second or two or doing the "find the body" weave in the kill zone is a good idea.
In games with several players reviving, I feel like I am in a race to beat them to respawn. Why would I want to come back and try to hide for 15 seconds praying I can regen before I get shot when I could be back in 5 with 100% health and ammo in a more advantageous position? Worse, if you are in the map overview after being killed and not anticipating a revival, it is jarring to pop straight from the spawn menu back into battle. I have been restocking fits and planning my next spawn only to be "assisted" with an unsolicited revive/execution on several occasions.
How can this be fixed? Even at 50-60k, the frustration from revivals does not come close to paying off for me. Would anyone else like an option to immediately abort your clone and prevent revival? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I never call for assistance and still get yanked back into battle with some regularity. Should revives require a player request for assistance? |

Skihids, that may be true, but where will you find the time to use both with an AR, Sniper Rifle or HMG lighting you up?
The person being revived got killed by something. Bad tactical position > Needle/Rep Tool

Wait until logis get nerfed to oblivion from forum QQ. You won't have to worry about getting revived ever again. |

Sometimes I completely run out of ammo and there is no Nanohives anywhere. I'll walk right up to an enemy and let them kill me, so I can just respawn and get back to the fight...
But along comes a Revive and there I sit at 30% health and still no ammo... like really?
Let me die, if I want help, i'll call for it. Unless its squad member, than I'm all for 60 WP added to the Orbital Strike
i also like when the enemy team revives, because I'll kill someone; along comes the Medic... 1 kill turns into 3 |

As a heavy I occasionally run dry on the HMG. If I'm up on kills and no ones using hives I would rather kamikaze out than lurk around the edge of the battle trying to pick off stragglers with the SMG. Please leave the needle at home and bring another hive.

I try to revive whenever there's an icon. The problem I usually run into is that the radar looks clear when really there's a squad of four lurking just around a corner. Happens more times than I can count. |

Do you ever signal for a hive? Try shooting at a someone and then shooting at the ground in front of them. They usually get the message. |

Reviving can be done properly. I'll clear the area first, If I can't you gonna die. Generally if it's a heavy I'll throw a nano at his feet as well. And If I revive you and you stand there like an idiot and get killed again it's your own fault. Soon as you are on your feet you just be jumping to cover. |

Snipers are pretty good about this. If I see one I will call in an LAV and drive out to them to rearm. Thankfully they bring a hive into battle instead of a needle. |

I think we've identified the problem with reviving in many cases. No offense to anyone, but seeing the revive icon pop up and screaming "SQUIRREL!!!" and running headlong into a kill zone is the source of player frustration. Whatever killed me is still there unless you killed it or saw it get killed.
As I recall, CCP changed the revive mechanics because no one was waiting around for them and the play style was dead. Forcing people to get revived and changing little else did nothing to improve reviving in the game. People don't want revived because the negatives often outweigh the positives. This is true whether you are concerned about your KDR or not. |

When i die, i have the option of waiting for a revive, or instantly going back to the spawn overview.....I'm not forced to do either.

Personally I like being revived. I generally manage my ammo well enough to kill about 15 people before I am out on my AR and the SCR can theoretically kill all 150 enemy clones without restocking.
That said I made it a habit to only revive people who have asked for help. Even then I consider the situation first to give them a chance to stand up. But please don't expect me to remember all last 10 entries on the killfeed so I can judge whether you've been killed by a sniper or that dead red on the floor next to you. |

Here's my personal rules for reviving
1. If you are running a combat dropsuit (non logi) you need a adv injector or better. Fit a repair tool / triage hive instead
2. if you have a basic injector don't pick them up when the enemy is around, your giving them 2 more kills (yourself included thanks to the slower animation, making the enemy 40pts ahead)
3. If both these are not an issue then a basic injector is fine, so long as you can top up HP with a repair tool

Players with injectors can see everyone who is bleeding out, whether you've called for assistance or not.
You're not forced to call for help, but even if you don't you can be revived.
That's why I'm suggesting that players who have not called for help would not be revivable. |

I don't often run with a needle, but I use it responsibly when I do. Mostly I'll wait for a request, and even then I'll clear the area first in case the blue is trying to sucker me into a fire zone.
Blues who respawn without thinking can cost their team the match if they are too profligate with their clones. |

Jesus i've never seen so much wierd talk about revives !! But ok let's take it from the top because reviving got quite a few flaws where well almost all of them are from stupid/bad players using needles. First of all a major flaw in the revival mechanic is that pressing circle doesn't kill you, it only takes you to the spawn screen map but your body will stay "revive able" and the revive will therefore almost certainly come as a big surprise to anyone who gets revived. FIX: If you press circle and go to the map you've just terminated your clone and do not want to get revived. Staying at the kill info screen and asking for help will keep your body bleeding out.
Players reviving me to just have me instantly die again.
Well stupid players be stupid. I run Gall logi with a neddle and rule number one of reviving "DON'T REVIVE UNLESS THE S*** IS CLEAR !!!" but a lot of people, as you've said" only see FREE WARPOINTS !! and leg it to the body as fast as they can.
FIX: Well the first fix would help the people who straight away know they will not like to get revived. But if i remember CCP talked about adding bonuses to being revived a few months ago, and this would certainly help making "battlefield revivals" more profiting for both the person on the receiving needle end and the stabbing end. What if the bonus is something like 6 seconds of invincible or 5 seconds of 50 HP/S repair ?? Would make it a lot more profitable for a logi to instead of try to kill the assault guy who just killed a heavy, he'll just revive the heavy and laugh while the heavy has 5 seconds of playtime with the assault.
And yeah if the problem of people going "SQUIRREL !!" still persists even with bonuses to getting revived and all well player accepted revives only heeere we come (Even though i would hate to see this implemented as it would destroy the flow of revival a lot !!) |

there needs to be a toggle for the revive, something in the settings that you can set to default on or off, and then a toggle in match for revive-able call for help and non revive-able |
