I ask because in over a year of playing I can recall on one hand the number of times I have been revived and been thankful for it. I play heavy with 50-60k fittings and can honestly say if you see me on the ground, please leave me lie.
I appreciate what other players do as far as hives and repairing because their actions are a big help to heavies. However, reviving someone to get shot again is one of the lease useful, team killing activities in this game. You cannot help the team running into enemy fire to revive me at 50% health. I have been on both sides, both being revived in the middle of a firefight where the enemy is camping your body and being the camper. It's amazing that someone sees me drop their teammate with an HMG and thinks that crouching over their body for a second or two or doing the "find the body" weave in the kill zone is a good idea.
In games with several players reviving, I feel like I am in a race to beat them to respawn. Why would I want to come back and try to hide for 15 seconds praying I can regen before I get shot when I could be back in 5 with 100% health and ammo in a more advantageous position? Worse, if you are in the map overview after being killed and not anticipating a revival, it is jarring to pop straight from the spawn menu back into battle. I have been restocking fits and planning my next spawn only to be "assisted" with an unsolicited revive/execution on several occasions.
How can this be fixed? Even at 50-60k, the frustration from revivals does not come close to paying off for me. Would anyone else like an option to immediately abort your clone and prevent revival? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I never call for assistance and still get yanked back into battle with some regularity. Should revives require a player request for assistance? |

Skihids, that may be true, but where will you find the time to use both with an AR, Sniper Rifle or HMG lighting you up?
The person being revived got killed by something. Bad tactical position > Needle/Rep Tool

But along comes a Revive and there I sit at 30% health and still no ammo... like really?
Let me die, if I want help, i'll call for it. Unless its squad member, than I'm all for 60 WP added to the Orbital Strike
As a heavy I occasionally run dry on the HMG. If I'm up on kills and no ones using hives I would rather kamikaze out than lurk around the edge of the battle trying to pick off stragglers with the SMG. Please leave the needle at home and bring another hive.

Snipers are pretty good about this. If I see one I will call in an LAV and drive out to them to rearm. Thankfully they bring a hive into battle instead of a needle. |

And If I revive you and you stand there like an idiot and get killed again it's your own fault. Soon as you are on your feet you just be jumping to cover.
I think we've identified the problem with reviving in many cases. No offense to anyone, but seeing the revive icon pop up and screaming "SQUIRREL!!!" and running headlong into a kill zone is the source of player frustration. Whatever killed me is still there unless you killed it or saw it get killed.
As I recall, CCP changed the revive mechanics because no one was waiting around for them and the play style was dead. Forcing people to get revived and changing little else did nothing to improve reviving in the game. People don't want revived because the negatives often outweigh the positives. This is true whether you are concerned about your KDR or not. |

When i die, i have the option of waiting for a revive, or instantly going back to the spawn overview.....I'm not forced to do either.
What you talkin bout willis?
Players with injectors can see everyone who is bleeding out, whether you've called for assistance or not.
You're not forced to call for help, but even if you don't you can be revived.
That's why I'm suggesting that players who have not called for help would not be revivable. |
