Because if so that's an unintentional way represent the technological advancedness of each race
From low tech to high (even though they are all high-tech) and I also included what I think it might actually mean.

This is all speculation by the way

Minmatar 1- One eye with a patch on the other. (Probably represents hardship and/or pirate/nomadic life many Minmatar lead)

Caldari 2- Although you may not tell at first glance because it looks like it's just one unified headpiece even though they really do have two eyes. (Represents how the Caldari view their society, putting the whole before the individual)

Amarr 3(?)- They believe themselves to be spiritually awakened and having more insight and all that good stuff. I believe it's on the forehead, if it's true that really fits the Amarrians well.

Gallente 4- The egg heads, nerdish, intellectuals whatever you call it. They don't like putting themselves out there and highly efficient with power and believe in quality over quantity. Typical nerdish type, (hate using that stereotype) and send someone else to fight before they do.

We are known as the most sexually deviant society in the universe. A lot of places even ban Gallante items from import because we are so hectic. We also have the most hippy liberals. Though, we are respected because we are the only Empire where people from all other Empires can live in peacefully, with an equal voice for all. This makes us the only true democracy.

The Caldari are easily more nerdy. They spend a lot of time and effort making all their stuff easier to make and cheaper to produce, while maintaining the same quality. The Gallante make luxury items of awesomeness.

 Plus we are sexiest :P

So sexy in fact, that we purposely made all of the helmets for our suits ugly so that our beauty would not distract others. Not only that, but we are BUILT! You know that Gallante Assault suit has 8 pack abs underneath.

The Minmatar are lucky we funding their revolutionaries and training them.

We tolerate the Amarr because we find their Ancient Chivalrous nature and customs amusing. Kind of like how people in America like the Amish, because we find it funny they still live that way. Heck, when we met the Amarr for the first time, we made them feel uncomfortable because we started fads where we dressed and acted like them.

The Caldari, we gave them technology, we gave them democracy, a home in the federation. AND WHAT DID THEY DO?... They stabbed us right in the back while giving us a hug. They make me want to vomit from my bottom and excrete from my mouth... They make me sick.

Of course, the Gallente are also very arrogant in their belief that they are the best, and so will use clandestine morally dubious actions to further their cause; I.e. the Black Eagles.

At least we Amarr are open and upfront about our arrogance. Backstabbing shadow games are for our aristocracy to play with each other.

One of the best parts of New Eden is that there are no "good guys, " at least not on a faction level.

at least on the logi suit, they explained that the eyepatch is for viewing the armor levels of teamates, detecting even micro-fractures that measure in nanometers for optimal repair work.

the assault? no idea what that one does. probably just blocks one eye out because the minmatar are just that kind of badass.

It will shine in the sun, giving off rays of gunmetal gray and regal navy blue, firing metal slugs to shred your pathetic artsy fartsy suits. It is for precision, on point, aiming of weapons. You know how people close one eye when looking down the sight of a weapon? We'll, the Minmatar have such bad aim that they have that built into their helmets. They have such bad aiming that all their weapon either do damage even when they miss (MD, Flaylock, Locus grenade) or are meant to be hip fired (SMG & HMG). Heck, there aim is so bad... That the HMG has a mechanism that makes the gun become more accurate, to compensate for the Minmatar people's inherent lack of precision.

Though, this is good for the other races. As a marksman, that knows how to properly control both the dispersion and recoil if weapons, can devastate with these weapons. As most of there weapon designs take into account that they will miss A LOT (most) of [their] shots, if a marksman hits most of their shots, they will decimate whole squads of personnel.

The Minmatar truly waste the potential of their technology on themselves.

The Amarrian have the greatest spiritual connection out of any race in the empire.

As each New Eden race descended from modern man, we can speculate that these races also inherited our traits.
Humans contain a pituitary gland, which can be located from the outside as residing in the middle of the forehead. An example of this is seen in Hinduism, where practicioners have tatooed a red mark to the middle of their brow (symbolically represents the "third eye").

This pituitary gland, the "third eye", is regarded as our spiritual connection to things existing outside of the physical world; this is supported by the production of DMT (Dimethyltryptamine - the spirit molecule) within the pituitary. Many people attempt to access this eye through meditation, aural frequences, and other methods (hallucinogens, etc).

I would assume that this is what the Amarrian Third Eye is.

 Wait...isn't DMT a psychedelic drug?
