So its quite obvious that the scouts out there need some love. Both in suits and what their role should be on the battlefield. Whenever I think of scouts, I think of flanking and harassment. Being able to keep the enemy on their toes while an attack squad rips them apart. It is because of this that I think we need to give them more to play with than they already have suit wise.
Commando Scout (Proto) 2 x Equipment Slots (I was thinking Uplinks and REs) 0 x Main Weapon Slots (This is a harasser, not direct engagement) 2 x Sidearm Slots (Think Dual SMG or SMG and Knives) 2 x Grenade Slots
2 x High Slots 1 x Low Slot
Stamina increases 5% per level
Im not sure about the two grenade slots but I think that it gives them a better chance to survive out on the field.

Two equipment slots would be great on a Scout! I'm thinking Uplinks/Active Scanner for avoiding combat and getting friendly forces into position.
Though I don't think you'd see many Scouts flocking to the described config due to lack of evasive capability. One low slot would be the limiting factor, as an infiltrator or recon scout needs enough stamina and sprint speed to avoid combat.
Same goes with grenades. No point having six if you die after tossing your first nade. This config's gonna be too squishy and slow to get in and out of nade range.
The concept has lots of potential though, just needs tweaking ... |

Thats why I wanted a dedicated scout to chime in. I wanted the bonus to be stamina for just that reason.
What would you do to make this fit more viable? Again, think of it as not direct engagement but definitely an asset to the battlefield strategically. |

I think this would be great for SMGs in particular but that's where it seems to end.
If you are like me, a Scout - Scrambler Pistol user, then 2 sidearm slots is kind of painful. I've done the double pistol runs, they are hella fun, but really not so effective. It's better for scout-pistoleers when they have a "Special Light Weapon" as well, such as a shotgun, sniper rifle, or Mass Driver, something with a niche so the pistol becomes their more rounded weapon.
Just doesn't work so great for us Scrambler Pistol users. Possibly. |

Hmmm ... strategic asset ...
Add a 2nd equipment slot and a little CPU/PG to the existing Gallente Proto model, and BLAMO! You got yourself a great framework for infiltration/recon/e-war along with a good deal of design flexibility.

Even when this suit is tweaked to perfection, it would not be for you as it doesn't fit your style of play. Keep in mind that different play styles is the whole point of having multiple suits.
You would simply stick with the current scout suit (or you can design one that caters to you better) but there is nothing wrong with that.
@OP I would suggest at proto level have 0 high and 5 low. These extra lows would mean going back to just one nade slot.
Knifers would enjoy mixing stamina, speed, and forescale plates to better survive there encounters but they would have the lowest damage output when compared to other scouts. Hackers could ninja hack and ninja counter hack right under the enemy's nose with codebreakers and profile dampeners(my style). The extra lows would also offer the scout the chance to equip CPU/PG upgrades to more easily fit the extra equipment.

I like that idea actually. That serves more of the role that I was thinking of for this suit. To have it be a pure flanker/harasser who is focused on speed/stamina and getting a team into the right position.
The flanker/infiltrator style would be what shotty suggests with the uplinks/scanner The harasser style with uplinks/REs etc
I think the dual equipment slots and the stamina bonus are my main points of the suit. The rest is to try to balance it out so its more niche and not possibly OP. It should be different from a scout but not 'better' (if you can use that word with the state that scouts are in right now. |

Why not just fix the scout suit to slightly incorporate this archetype? Again the solution people have for the scout suit is to create 50 million versions of it, one for each tiny little role with no variation within a single suit.
The minmatar could become some grenadier with two grenades, extra grenade capacity and throws two at a time, later when we get T3 versions of scouts we could have a more aggressive suit v ewar suit divide. Otherwise, we need lite versions of these already present in the scout. |

Saw another threat with a similar idea. I like it. Maybe let them have 3 equip and only one sidearm slot, and give them a naturally-low profile, lower than a normal scout. I think 3 equip would be especially useful when they add cloaking module as an equipment item. This type of suit would be a natural to have a bonus to that module, perhaps fitting bonus or duration or who knows. It could be the covops frig of the dust universe. |

Like I said on the PHI forums, Canari, this is an attempt to give the Scout a specialized role, but if you think upon it, the only thing special here is a 2nd grenade slot. A Logi can do this same thing and probably have better mods because of the bigger CPU/PG pool, not to mention bigger eHP.
Also, this is a specialiced paradigm suit -- Commando Scout -- more on guerrilla tactics. We need the option of more paradigms, like a Glass Cannon, Full Recon/Stealth. Like how in EVE, frigates can be Stealth Bombers, Assault Frigates, Ewar Frigs, etc. depending on racial speciality and bonuses -- with a slot distribution and equip-able modules UNIQUE to each. It would be nice to see this diversity.
I don't know why CCP didn't approach suits and their resulting roles/abilties in this way. Instead, they let the lines blur thinking it was for the better.
Because of this, currently in Dust, Scouts are neither Unique nor the best in any sort of role. It floats, lost because the Assault and Logi eclipses it in all roles designed for it to excel in. So, it's relegated to the stubborn few who are fanatical and/or gluttons for punishment. |

Chill, that is exactly what I was thinking. I think the term 'scout' is not named correctly in this game. Its a light suit for combat purposes. I just named it a 'commando' to show that its a specialized role similar to that of the lolCommando heavy.
The purpose I had for this suit idea is that it will not be a direct engagement suit and that its main job would be a strategic addition to the game and give light suits more of a purpose to the game. Since I have limited experience in light suits, I wanted to get feedback from our fleet footed brethren on how they would like this suit to be.
While a logi is more of a support suit for the front lines, this would be designed to get beyond the lines. To be able to booby trap a supply depot or place an uplink behind the enemy to box them. The only worry I have is making sure that it is not a suit that would be direct engagement using standard weapons. |

Even if they made the light commando I'm pretty dam sure they won't give us 3 weapon slots (unless they sacrificed the grenade again).
Having more weapons is kinda counterproductive towards the OPs idea as this just give an excuse to engage in combat and that is not your job.
With my current scout set up I find myself running into fights head first and, at times, getting outrageous kills (fit not designed for combat... AT ALL)! Most of the time, however, I just die a lot. I have to remind myself "Stick to your role alpha!" and when I do I find my WP jumping up and the enemy MCC shield/armor dropping down.
Just yesterday I played a domination match with only half a team (other half was AFK, Useless, or distracted by life) but I stuck to my role, placing uplinks near there redline as well as near the objective to give us an attack and block off incoming enemies. This forced them to spawn at the one up link they had (near the supply depot) and fight outward from there. 4 guys fought bravely to block off one of there routs, I kept infiltrating there position and destroying there equipment (even hacked the depot once) while at the same time running back to the objective to insure it's safety. With our few numbers the enemy eventually managed to push us off there redline and take the objective. Fortunately we held the objective for quite some time so there MCC was getting real close to critical. I then stopped to asses the situation and noticed that our MCC could possibly destroy there's without the NULL Cannon. I also noticed there clone count was low and decided to switch to sniping. I knew they were gonna focus on our CRU so a squad mate and I set up positions overlooking it and managed to actually clone those bustards! Lol cloned them in Dom with only half a team... I felt great after that!

I would give it:
Commando Scout (Proto) 2 x Equipment Slots 0 x Main Weapon Slots 2 x Sidearm Slots 1 x Grenade Slots
2 x High Slots 1 x Low Slot
Stamina increases 10% per level Sprint Speed increases 3% per level
- This would be based on similar based stats to normal scout. - Bonuses high enough to allow user to crazy max one aspect or forego speed or stamina module in favour of something else and not be too gimped. - You cant give it two grenade slots because think of 6 nades plus carry hive as well.
Agree with Chill and Shotty though - scout needs to be more robust so we can play the class how we want than waiting for a specialized one to come along. |

I would suggest just calling it "Light commando" at this point. Calling it a scout would mean that one of the bonuses would have to be replaced with the reduced profile that other scouts get.
Two highs would give incentive to play aggressively (damage mods) and that's kinda against what the OP is going for. I do see were you're going with this though and I must admit I like it. It actually matches the name when you think about it. The scout the OP is talking about is more of a...rogue. Hmm... that may be a better name actually.

If they add new"scout" grenades, keep the slot. But I would love to sacrifice the grenade slot for another low mod. We need to be in the shadows, stalking and waiting for conditions to be just right, then pounce and disappear. I just got excited thinking about that. Let our deaths be by tactical errors only. I just know that our role is to hinder enemy advances with guerrilla tactics and by aiding the main assult pack. Giving them flanking ULs, scanning victims for 24sec., Planting Anti-infantry mines (anyone?) to deny access. If only just one. Planting Res on objectives. Man, the "scout 2.0" can't come soon enough. |

It isn't to allow you to duel SMG but to discourage combat. When getting kills is taken out of the equation you are left with relying on pure tactics and that's the whole point of this suit.

I know that some dual wield sidearms and that is fine. Yes, people could use this suit as a combatant but I want to make sure that it wouldnt be a possible OP situation if CCP ever fixes the base light suits.
As many are saying, this is a infiltrator thats main purpose is to get in and out of situations quickly and to give a tactical advantage to the team. The reason I went with dual sidearms was to give it some sort of defense since it is going to be going behind enemy lines. It should be a killer but reserved for 1v1 and not a mass engagement. I agree with a lot of suggestions that this suit should be low slot tanked to give some variety to either speed or profile mods. I wanted the stamina bonus for the suit because the nerf that the stat got is killer for light suits. This will allow them to sprint in, do their business and get the hell out of dodge before they are noticed.
All in all, scouts need a purpose on the battlefield which they lack right now. They need to be a viable option for PC other than just speed hacking and DU hunters. If this games survives, its going to need diversity to make it interesting. I love speed tanks (Im a minnie assault for that reason) and I hate seeing this game dominated by slow lumbering tankers.

True, just not sure how to balance the differences between the levels. The key to this suit are the equipment slots. So maybe just get rid of the 3rd equip slot for proto and have the bigger difference be in PG/CPU between advanced and proto so that the better suit can fit better equipment.

Too many lows and the base/scout suits will be worthless compared to it. If you go that route then you have to make this guy super squishy with the base shield/armor. There needs to be a level of sacrifice to gain the extra stuff. |
