Low survivability, low slot count, but fast as hell.
Heavies just get too many downsides as a whole, and then taking away their slots and heavy weapon is way more drawbacks than required to justify the pretty cool bonus of having two light weapons.
It would have been interesting to see them as specialist scouts with additional bonuses to movement (given the traditional meaning of "commando")--faster climbing, a small amount of steering during a drop (say 5 degrees), maybe even provide (future) bonuses to movement equipment like grappling hooks or boosters or whatever else people can come up with. Two light weapons and the best battlefield movement capabilities would be enough to make up for some terrible drawbacks. |

Been playing almost exclusively with Commando suits for about a month now. The suit has issues, but people underestimate how good being able to use 2 light weapons is. Being able to use a rifle and a swarm launcher at the same time is pretty beastly.
As far as seeing it get some buffs, it could do with having some more low slots. It gets a (tiny) bonus to defensive modules, but can only fit a single plate at adv/proto. Even just giving each level of suit +1 low would be a huge boon. Aside from that, maybe make the base shield regen a bit higher. It goes up at 5hp/tick right now, so leaves you vulnerable for long periods between fights.
Not a great suit by any means, but it's pretty solid. |

I enjoy running a commando suit once in a while, but the most useful load outs are:
1) Laser Rifle & Mass Driver = LR removes shields, MD removes armor... Yes please hide in the courner, I can't... Oh wait splash damage...
2) Laser Rifle & Swarm Launcher = ranged pestering + AV
3) Sniper Rifle & Swarm Launcher + dropship = Over watch king. Most opponents will see a sniper up there and bring in a drop ship (normally militia), so with proto swarms on the suit it only takes 2 hits to drop it. Granted a scout or light frame with damage mods and a flaylock would prob work out better until flaylocks stop flipping dropships.
Its a fun suit, but its not a suit you want to get caught in a fire fight on the front lines in. Stay back and support |

Mass Driver + Scrambler is the way to go, or some other combination of one-two punch. Works best with a squad, as you can support long range and close range. You can even run with a repair tool or injector and support your team further!

The secret to success is to use both weapons to their full potential. For instance, The scrambler does 20% more damage to shields, and the mass driver does 20% more damage to armor. The downside to these weapons is that they are only efffective vs one type of health, whereas using them in combination means you are doing 120% damage all the time.
Play this class similar to a two handed warrior class. You don't have much health so you have to rely on your damage to take players out before they can take you out. Also, you don't have that much health, and it's even worse that you move slow too. HAHAHAHAHA NOOOOB! NOBODY LISTEN TO THIS FR00B!!!! JUST USE THE DUVOLLE THIS GUY IS TROLL!
you can go ahead and run ur duvolle on a commando and see how much ISK u start losing... way to call someone a troll when ur the "special" one.... |
