Nanohives are a bit of a hotbutton. But bluntly I thoroughly believe they have their place, and have some suggestions.
I have a few suggestions:
1: Ammunition regeneration. make the nanohives last X minutes (I suggest 1 minute) before depleting, rather than giving so many "Pulses" of ammo to a squad. You could increase the amount of ammunition regenerated without breaking them too much, so the counts aren't a huge worry.
2: Grenade restocking should be removed and relegated to supply depots. Much as I love mocking HAV drivers who basically try to drive over infantry and get too close, the grenade restock is easily the cause of other problems than spamming AV nades. This way grenades can be restocked, but it's not a casual matter of standing in the light bubble and having a ghetto mass driver that does more damage.
3: allow restocking of hives and drop uplinks at supply depots. What's the point of a "Supply Depot" that doesn't restock your supplies?
4: Triage Nanohives are an interesting turn of idea and it makes sense. However, I think removing ammo replenishment from any hive that regenerates armor. Further, the triage hives should pulse and repair at HALF or a QUARTER the rate a logi with a repair gun would. The preferred mid-battle recovery solution should always be the medic, not a stopgap dropped unit. Again make them timed duration rather than "Pulses expended."
5: Warpoints for destruction of equipment in the field based on how much "Lifespan" remains. If you destroy it right as it is dropped, 10 WP. If you destroy it right as it's expended, you maybe get 1. Apply equally to droplinks and other deployables. |

TL;DR nerf nanohives to uselessness.
Might as well just give me an infinite amount of nanohives because I am better of using a different form of equipment and using a depot. This makes it extremely hard to supply my team, or create a hub of supplies for my team. |

nanohives seems fine to me, the only thing i would change is the max cluster on proto nanohives, it's equal to the advanced ones, proto should have both, huge cluster and improved resupply rate. |

All of the ideas proposed by the OP are unnecessary. Nanohives are just fine the way they are. As shaman oga suggested, the proto hives should get a slight nanocluster buff (maybe around 10%) even at the expense of a slight resupply rate nerf if need be.
BTW OP, you can resupply hives/drop uplinks by changing suits at the supply depot. |

Seconded although it would be nice if supply depots refilled equipment without changing suits. |

My only argument against this is that it's a cumbersome work around. They should just outright give us more hives/uplinks. No sense in not if there is a work around otherwise. |

OP name relevant. I don't see how any of these ideas are improvements and don't just nerf nanohives into an almost useless niche?
Also, btw you can replenish your nanohives at a supply depot by taking the 2 or 3 seconds to refit your current suit. |

I'm gonna assume that the supply depot auto-replenishment works on the same mechanic as nanohive replenishment (with the exception of healing dropsuit armor). Therefore anything restocked by nanohives are restocked automatically by supply depots, but for the items not restocked, you need to manually restock through the fitting menu.
Autosupply for DUs might not make a huge difference but for hives, it could be construed as OP. Continuing to spam healing/ammo hives while your teammates fight at a supply depot and never having to stay still to refit... fluxes and grenades would have a very minor effect in killing your hives if you could keep refreshing them without much effort. |

There is no "hotbutton". No one is complaining about these, and they are pretty well balanced. No changes needed. |

Your idea would make Supply Depots way too important and would force battles to center around them more then the objectives. To get rid of the hybrid nano hives would be a bad move as they are more valuable to the assault players then anyone else. The only thing that needs to be done with the hives are to color-code them so as to more easily distinguish the type of hive you are looking at.

Supply depots are already extremely important to some people. Being able to swap from adv to proto for that extra little push or swapping from swarms to sniper as the situation demands. These tactics can totally stop an enemy in its tracks if used properly.

In my opinion the nanohives are fine as is. However I would like to see triage only nanohives at standard and advanced level too. Also a new variant that allows you to carry many nanohives but only have one active. For example at prototype level, max 1 active, max 5 carried.
I agree with you that nanohives should be replenished while standing next to a supply depot. Grenades, remote-, and proximity explosives restock. Why not nanohives? |
