Per this post it's not looking like the SP rollover system is coming anytime soon:
The SP rollover system was talked about back in January when we voted for a SP system. In this post CCP said this about the SP rollover system:
Quote:We are well aware of the fact that the daily/weekly skill point rollover system is the favorite amongst the community, and we are implementing such a system aimed at the next major release. In other words, this system was planned for Uprising. The above post is from January 23, which means they had three months to work on the SP rollover system, if they wanted to get it implemented for Uprising. If they couldn't do that, I would've imagined it would be implemented within a short time afterwards (Uprising 1.1 or 1.2). This did not happen, as I'm sure you're well aware of.
Now, I get that CCP don't want to implement this system as they only know how to sell boosters, and with this system people would just save up their SP and grind it all out within a week or a few weeks, only using a minimum of boosters, and thus CCP not making as much money as they currently do without the SP rollover system.
New players having to grind for months to be competitive, SP gains being terrible low and no way to reallocate any of your SP are some of the problems with the current SP system. Is CCP so focused on having people to buy boosters and grind SP that they don't want to implement better SP systems or an entire rewrite of the SP system? |

Rollover? so instead of me not having any incentive to play after cap at all, i shouldnt even have an incentive to play to cap every week?
Smart. Thats forum smart right there.

I came across that post too.
I'm about done with Dust. Unless 1.4 / 1.5 comes with some huge bug / gameplay fixes and some good content, I think I'm done dealing with the Dust team. |

This isn't really about the SP rollover system specifically, but more about CCP not wanting to do something that could potentially result in less booster sales, even though the changes are needed. There's other things that are just as important as the rollover system in my opinion.
New players should have more starting SP, and possibly have a further amount of SP uncapped.
SP gains should be increased. The 190.200 SP cap can stay, as I don't really think that is a problem in itself, but we should hit the cap faster than we do.
The 1k maximum after the cap should be removed, and you should get at least 1 SP for 1 WP with no maximum.
A way to reallocate your SP once in a while.
And finally the rollover system, so you don't have to cap out each week, but if you don't cap out you will not get the SP you otherwise would have gotten after hitting the cap that week.
That's the things I think should be changed with the current SP system. There's also other suggestions on the forums about removing SP altogether (or similar suggestions), which I also support.
Of course CCP won't do anything, since they don't want to do something that could result in less booster sales. |

CCP put the SP system to vote but only as a temporary measure. Its not feeling so temporary anymore is it
CCP even acknowledged the overwhelming voice from the community saying "Roll over system make it happen"
So CCP how goes the Rollover SP systems development?

I'm sure if CCP did add it there would be a rollover cap, prob 2-3 weeks worth and stops collecting unearned SP after the 2-3 weeks worth. |

And here I've been waiting for the rollover system to be implemented so I can start buying boosters... I guess CCP still has to wait for that to happen though... |

Yeah, it's the whole idea that "even though I have a booster I am still very limited on my SP" that's having a real reducing effect on the booster sales... |

Edit: It's even something that would help new players more than veterans, as has been said before, since veterans don't get better with more SP, just more versatile. |

After all the hand wringing and the worrying that that debate generated it really is the easiest solution. |

It's an old debate, but I think it's time that CCP start to make this game for the people they intended to.
They could've made this game on the PC, but they went to a console to target an entirely different audience, and the game should cater to this audience. If current EVE players want to play the game they should be welcome to do so, but the game shouldn't be focused around those players.
Some things might work for one playerbase while being terrible for another playerbase, the current SP system being one of these things. It's clearly not meant for the audience they intended this game for.
In my opinion this is where the game went wrong. CCP went to the console to target a different audience, but ended up making the game focused around the audience they already have on the PC with EVE. |

Actually I would probably be more likely to use boosters if there was a SP rollover. I don't use them now, and really only buy one if there is a worthwhile SP event going on (like triple SP).
Well say SP rollover was implemented, I don't always hit my weekly cap as it is now, and that would likely happen a lot more if I knew I wasn't losing out on the SP by DT Wednesday. So what would happen? Eventually I would accumulate too much SP to ever grind for (I don't really play that often), so I would buy a booster to catch up, probably on a monthly basis.
But it's sad they are shafting us on this concept, which has been promised for so long. |

I was about to create a thread on this, but then I realised that someone else must have done so already...
So, uhm, is that all the information they've given us? Nothing more than a "no, not happening"?
Why would a rollover system hurt booster sales? It'd be a piece of cake to implement a system that encouraged constantly running an active booster... |

Well, if you could get more than 1k SP per match after hitting the cap there would then be an incentive to hit the cap each week and gain that more SP each week, but since you can only get 1k per match it doesn't really matter.
Or they could just remove the cap and not even worry about the rollover system anymore. |

Came to think of something...
Maybe designing the rollover system is the kind of task for which they feel they need, you know, a game designer? Can't implement what isn't designed, and they've had that position open for, what, 3-6 months? ;)
...or they just figured "weekly seems good enough, lets work on something else", could be that too I suppose. |

Rollover would obviously change nothing for players that cap each and every week... Sorry, bit tired, I don't see your point here? |

You don't even have to do this. Make people feel good about playing the game and they will happily buy more boosters, no coercion required. |

There's a financial incentive not to have SP rollover for CCP. If you could store up SP from previous weeks, you could just go on a binge for a few days with an 3-day Active Booster for more than one week's worth of SP. With SP staggered over weeks, you need to have some kind of booster active every week to get the bonus SP. So, it could be about selling Active Boosters. |
