the solution to most annoying snipers would be derpship..
to make this more effective if a sniper hits us but doesnt kill us....he should light up bright red on the minimap...
or a big giant arrow should point to where he is exactly!
that way snipers wont be able to camp in one spot for the entire match...
this would be a big help! for counter sniping... |

the problem is when u deal with thales..its always next to impossible to find them to counter snipe them...
the only effective way to hunt down the annoying sniper is by derpship...using a mass driver..
the reason why is that this is the only effective way to deal with redzone snipers...
i have seen way to many invisible snipers on my games...
i can deal with the ocassional rooftop sniper or hill sniper i can deal with the snipers.. that are out of the redzone..the sniper i cant seem to get rid of is the sniper hiding in the redzone that is in an area where no one can counter snipe..
i may have dumped a few skill points just to unlock a tactical for counter sniping..
ive gotten good at counter sniping...but what i havnt gotten good at in the area is sniping the invisible nub in the redzone......
no 1 should be able to hide from the field of view of a derpship...
and shooting a high powered rifle should give away your position...
i know plenty of ppl that could deal with something like this...
heck alot of the times when i was sniped and did see the hit marker point to where i was shot from i grabbed a sniper.... looked to where the hit marker said i was shot from... and didnt see any1...
i giant red arrow over their head or a marking of their direction on the minimap. would solve this problem. |

ok the dampeners could have this effect!
they would decrease the time the giant arrow will be shown!

but this isnt halo and we rnt dealing with red and blue teams..with players wearing red and blue armor...
we r dealing with dust 514 with players that can wear brown.black or even yellow armor..
and if the snipers armor color is close to the color of the hill or building the player is sitting on its going to be a bit harder to spot them...
thats what the giant red arrows r for... |

i can do all classes..
im sick of damage mods in general.
i think majority of the stuff should be left for skills only...
this wouldnt push players into forge gun sniping, all it would really do is show the players where u r for a short period of time exactly...
make it a little easier for counter sniping that guy with the thale or charge... |

because of render distances.
the many times ive been hit by a sniper and looked to where they hit me from i took a derpship and was still unable to find them..
that giant red arrow above their head for a short time would only give some better information of where the shot came from..
i may snipe from time to time but this will kill camping for snipers.
and thats the point of it.
your location should be known after firing your first few shots.
its a great idea really...
and if the sniper is out of render range..
it will give better detail as to where those invisible bullets r coming from.
so the only ppl to hate it r the ones that want to rain down bullets onto players for the entire match concealed in a box of safety...
and be completely unaware of their own surroundings. |

not that hard...
i use several weapons on dust 514.
snipers included.
and while counter sniping.
this is how it goes the sniper u r trying to snipe normally have a height advantage. meaning that sniper over there will be hard to try and counter without use of ds.
and if they r camping in the redzone...
well its only fair that players should get to know the general area in which they r camping.
as most of the time players rnt going to know where they r located..
all my idea does is make finding that camper a little easier.

and what ur saying is basically what my idea makes easier...
that field of vision from the redzone may not cover certain specific areas.
but those chosen camp spots do cover a very wide view of the map, its not that narrow. |

the sniper role will not be gone.
many games i play it ends up like this...
one player starts sniping...
gets several kills.
then suddenly some1 on the other team decides to grab an sr and start trying to find the sniper..
and then a few minutes later no1 but a few ppl r trying to go for an objective while the rest of the entire teams r camping trying to snipe each other...
and so the players running on the ground trying to hack objectives and so on get punished by getting slaughtered by snipers hiding out in the several camp spots we already know about and others that r still being discovered..
this is one of the reasons why ccp designed the new maps the way they r currently.
many of the objectives r inside structures and protected by cover and such..
my big red arrow over your head for short amount of time idea doesnt take away all the camp spots but instead.
it helps the helpless ground player get the chance for some revenge...
and most likely.
it wont change much.
it really only affects your beloved redzone sniper/camper.
so nothing major to worry about.
the only player that would likely be gunning for u is the angry player uve been farming for points..

a combat sniper role means that sniper should always be on the move. moving from spot to spot.
thats what the big red arrow idea forces the sniper to do.
to move around more on the battle field.
that same sniper will also have some cqc effective with the use of the secondary weapon.
the way players snipe is this way currently.
they stand in one spot for the entire game. on a little safe hill..
they should be found out after firing their first few rounds.
and even if players start gunning for them they would still have a side arm to fall back on.
and seeing how they already have a tactical advantage by being on top of a hill where their enemy doesnt have much of any cover. taking them down shouldnt be a problem.
that sniper rifle is supposed to help those in cqc combat with the assault rifles in such by taking out enemy players in heavy cover.
thats why headshots ohk nearly every time with a sniper rifle.
my idea does not kill sniping.
if a sniper wants to do cqc that sniper will have a limited cqc effectiveness.
with the use of a side arm.
the new maps which most snipers seem to hate is because there are few camp spots on the map.
id say the new maps where designed to force players who want to snipe to move around the map from point to point. not stay in one place for the entire map.
my big red arrow idea. forces the sniper to change locations every once in a while. as they should be doing.
so if several camp locations get found out by majority of the blueberries. all it means is that ull have to be moving around a little more if u want to avoid getting killed.
what this does is give sniping an actual role.
and kills its well known reputation as the (PAD YOUR OWN KDR) gun.
it also makes it a true recon class. |

now that ive drawn out most of the ppl who obviously rnt good at the game itself and must desperately try to shoot down my idea so they can sleep at night.
im going to state what normally happens in most of the games i have played when it comes to snipers.
what my idea intended for them is it makes it to where they cant camp in one spot for the entire game.
that right there is not sniping..that is camping with a sniper rifle.
now to the above idiot who said most snipers are always in scout suits..
that just.no just no.that is the stupidest thing to say ever when it comes to snipers.
most of the snipers i have come across. are in proto caldari medium dropsuits.
sure ull come across the rare scout gk0 but thats about it. there is also the occasional player using the heavy suit to snipe with.
but its all mostly med frames from here..
when talking about suits.
headshots do ohk nearly everytime.
and that right there is fine.
what isnt fine is the fact that same sniper can endlessly fire that loud sniper rifle getting kills on players (that are aware of whats around them.) for the entire game with out getting spotted.
being a sniper should be a role that involves lots of self awareness..
what ive seen in game isnt a role that involves lots of self awareness..
all i have seen so far when it comes to snipers are players that go to a high position overlooking the entire battle field(mostly in the redzone).
take random pot shots on random players on the ground that are actually trying to get stuff done by hacking objectives and such.
and remain completely unaware of their own surroundings.
this what those "snipers" do majority of the time.
and thats why its so easy to sneak up on the most snipers. so u could think of this as a buff for all u know.
that big red arrow over your head idea would be helpfull..
plus u can look on the bright side.. ull know when that angry player will be coming..
the assault rifle only kills effectively at up to 66 meters anything at 67 and above and u rnt doing hardly any damage with that regular assault rifle.
and because of rendering problems snipers can snipe without worry..
my idea will put some actual risk into using that sniper class..
all that big red arrow needs to do is mark the place u r hiding around...no need to put it directly over your head..
but it sounds like it would be easier to code if it was.. ( it could also just mark your position on the radar/minimap for 10-15 seconds after firing your gun)
sure some players have an obsession with killing players using officer weapons in pub matches.
and the player should deserve that death for bringing it in the first place.
so think of that big red arrow over your head after your first several shots as a buff for helping u become aware of whats around you and not whats in front of your scope.
after all it is ironic when a giant loud explosion can easily be heard right BEHIND you and yet u not notice anything at all...
this wont change the camp spots that rnt in the redzone much but it will get rid of those redline snipers that majority of every1 on this game hates so much.
dont try to defend it..
it will only prove how childish u really are as it wont kill sniping at all.. it will only mean u will need to be more accurate with your shots.
and judging by how most ground players will often ignore vehicles and snipers.
the only player u have to worry about is that player u have annoyed and made so angry to waste several isk into just finding u and killing u once.
and so it shouldnt be too hard to counter that player.

the caldari sniper rifle is a form of a rail gun.
but it still makes a loud whistle/screeching noise when fired. so its easily heard.
that guy with the ar just floating around?
why it sounds like hes trying to defend the objective from any players that would try to sneak around where majority of the players are.
its hard to snipe a player thats glitching. or out of render range.
and next to impossible to snipe some1 camping in the redzone with a charge or thale. with a std sr or a std tac sr.
which is the main weapon used by most counter snipers.
the many times ive picked up a sniper rifle was for the intent to counter snipe.
and the many places ive sniped from have been the places i was last hit by snipers.
and what i normally do is try to find the sniper by scanning the area from where i was last hit from with that sr scope.
and most of the time this little tactic fails. because that "sniper" is either hidden out of rendering range or using a glitch.
my idea fixes that problem.
most players already spot the current rooftop snipers/campers that r out of the redzone.
very easily and very quickly r they spotted.. but the only time they get obliterated is when some1 gets angry enough to waste the isk on a ds and clear them out.
so with this in mind i only see it affecting those who hide in the redzone. |

when i pick up some nova knives do i expect to die? yes.
when i pick up an assault rifle do i expect to die? yes.
when i enter a vehicle do i expect to die? yes.
when i bring out some proto gear should i expect to die? yes.
when u pick up a sniper rifle and snipe from the redzone do u expect to die? no u dont.

im just messing around with this thread now.

and thats why i find it funny.
so i thought i might as well just add to the dumb endless conversation. and keep it up as long as possible.
