Well was thinking for a while now in this game and about it's weapon classes.
How about adding a LMG (Light Machine Gun) to the game? I mean it could fill the gap between AR and HMG. And instead of the heavies always getting the big guns, why not let the mediums get a big gun themselves?
I mean it could have the ammo size of a HMG but a slightly more powerful attack power (But not too much)
Could be used for suppressing fire or something.
I dunno, just had a suggestion but wanted to share it. |

Nonono, not more damage than the HMG I meant damage that is more than the AR but lower than the HMG.
I'm sorry I worded that wrong. I meant in between the HMG and AR.
Or same damage as AR just longer range and huge clip.
But if course I didn't mean stronger than HMG |

My suggestion was going to be like yours but I worded everything in this topic wrong.
The gun would be like this: Slightly more damaging than the AR Fire rate is equal to the AR Breach Slower than AR reload by half Recoil - Medium/High Range - a LITTlE bit longer than AR Can be weilded by medium and heavy, except for Scouts/light

That is a pretty good idea. But a problem with clip size... The average AR has like... 48 or 60 rounds in the clip. Why not make the clip at least 30 or 40 to balance out the clip size. And probably have a max of 160 or 240 |

Heavy gun standard does 14-17 depending on variant while proto guns are just under 20 per bullet. I think the RoF should be SMG level but obviously a more effective range and 100 round clip is decent. However, i don't think this is feasible let the heavy have the freaking mini gun. That is their job, not us medium suits. A gun like this would put the mini gun to shame in this game.
That's the problem I am having here. The LMG would be similar to the HMG just lighter and weaker but there isn't really a way to make it so that it is balanced. I mean I just want something that chews through armor but not shields. But that job is already for the HMG. So I dunno what to do for the LMG.

Exactly, some of the weapons for medium class are ridiculous. Such as the swarm and plasma, as you mentioned. It just doesent seem to fit the size for the mediums as much as they fit for heavy.
So that's why I'm suggesting another kind of weapon. A 'brother' to the AR and HMG, the LMG. For medium and heavy. |

But yeah, what I actually meant by LMG was just a bigger version of the AR. Or "An AR on steroids" |

As long as the sniper rifle remains a light weapon and the MD is bumped up to medium, I'm fine with this. Lights don't need to be using those types of weapons anyway.
