Logibro, thank you for your work. As CHICAGOCUBS4EVER said previously, HUGE improvements between round one and round two.
I have 2 issues I'd like to see addressed, both of which have already been brought up here:
1) How is scoring going to be calculated? The reason I'm concerned is because, in our case, we lost our 2 games to Teamplayers and didnt realize there would be a third match. A few of us had logged off by the time the third match showed up and we played anyways (why not? more practice on the field and they already won the match so we have nothing more to lose, right?). The UF board doesn't seem to have any outline of the scoring but, from what I've read here, we are more penalized for playing the third match and TP is credited with the third match which doesn't really count since we had already lost best of 3. Also, there definitely needs to be a standard way of reporting wins/losses on UF so a team wont report a single win for the best of 3 - indicating they won the "match", versus reporting 2 wins in a best of 3, or 3 wins in a best of 3. Obviously the same applies for the losing side.
2) The friendly fire addition in round 2 is a little bit... unfair... to round one participants. I believe that our team would not have been greatly effected, nor would Teamplayers, nor do I believe any team in this would have had a drastically different result. But it COULD change game outcomes and definitely effects personal stats. I don't believe UF or CCP is counting individual stats in this tourney but it would still be a good idea to keep things uniform across the board so everyone feels like they're being measured with the same ruler. Again, I'm not complaining. I don't believe our team needs a rematch because of this (we were beat well and honorably) but a rematch in the interest of consistency may be in the best interest of everyone - UNLESS all round one teams agree UNANIMOUSLY that this is unecessary. For the teams with No-Shows and various glitches I imagine they might want a 2nd chance at things once the kinks are truly ironed out. That is something I would, if I had the power, strongly consider granting. Now, if those teams are backing out completely, it's a different matter. I guess the most democratic way to resolve round one problems would be to put the question to each of the involved teams. If any team in a match requests a rematch, I believe they should be granted one. If both teams agree a rematch is unecessary then that's their prerogative.
Thanks again for your efforts in making this work. I, for one, really enjoy the competition so far and hope to see it work out to everyone's satisfaction (win or lose). Take care and GL everyone! |

CCP Logibro wrote:Alright, sorry for taking so long to get back to you guys, busy day today.
Scoring: The only thing scored is the overall result of the best of three. This means that a 2-1 win is the same as a 3-0 win. The main number you should be looking at is the total XP - don't worry about Total Points. You get 75xp for win, 25 for draw and 10 for a loss. ...
Thanks for getting back to us at all.
So, to be clear; each round won = 75XP or each match won = 75XP? (I imagine whatever the answer is applies to losses and draws as well). |

(I will edit it to make it clearer)
Sorry, Logibro, I must not have been clear:
What I mean is, do we get 75XP if we go 2-0 or do we get 150XP for going 2-0? (75XP per match or per round?) |

Logibro, I really want to convey how much we all appreciate your hard work in and around this event. I personally think some people are being a bit melodramatic with the complaining but I do believe we've all felt some frustration in simply trying to participate in the event. And the few ways we have of contributing seem to be unreliable at best. All that being said, thanks again for your efforts on our behalf.
Questions to the community:
- Does anyone have any definitive information on which teams have been disqualified or have dropped out? I've heard of 2 teams being elligible for disqualification but nothing concrete about their status. I've also seen a few teams which appear to be No-Shows at all their games. Can anyone confirm?
- Has anyone been able to nail down which teams will not be playing each other? The roster and schedules seem to differ depending on how you access them on UF's website. There are only 18 scheduled regular rounds (non-rematch rounds) and 21 teams. Unless I failed arithmetic (unpossible), a round-robin would require a total of 20 rounds. I believe I worked out that we (Contract Hunters) will not be playing RND - but I'm not even certain about that. This is obviously a fairness issue for all participating teams.
- What do you guys think about using this thread, or creating another thread on this website, to track the Wins/Losses? We would still have to update UF for official purposes. But we would have a similar Results-Post-Confirm system where we state the outcomes in simple format and the thread starter can updated the results. We'd all have an accurate and much more reliable/accessible place to view the current standings.
Give the word and I'll start the thread. with the most recent results Logibro posted.

Traky78 wrote:Hum... ...So yes we broke those ****** rule but how many EU corps can actually put 16 players every two days? ... ...A lot of corps broke this absurd rule since the begening of your tourney. ... ...Dear CCP, just admit this rule was bull***** and let people from the CORP since more 2 weeks participate. ...
I'm not part of the EU tourney so maybe I'm waaay off but this doesn't seem like a legitimate excuse. As far as I'm concerned there are 2 issues at hand here: 1) If your team could not muster the necessary forces to fight in the scheduled tournament then you shouldn't be entering the tournament. This is equivalent to saying something like, "We should be allowed to enter the Olympics even though we didn't qualify because it's not fair that some people get in and other people don't." Sometimes things are just "unfair" but we ALL (as a society/community) are keeping things "fair" by setting up rules to try and create a balanced playing field, so to speak. If your team cannot commit to the tournament the way it was set up then guess what? You don't belong in the tournament. I would prefer to have a lot of teams in the tournament because it's more fun the more people that participate. But the rules are designed to help the tournament stay organized and this rule in particular (despite your feelings of it being BS) is a reasonable rule.
2) As far as I know (feel free to correct me if you know otherwise - although I don't think it matters) was implemented, like all the rules, by UrgentFury. I don't know how much of a hand CCP had in creating the tournament (again I don't think it matters) but I think your aggression towards CCP - who has done a wonderful and nearly thankless job of giving us this opportunity - is misplaced. I don't know what the penalties are or should be for this conduct. My understanding of the rules was that this was grounds for disqualification/forfeiture. I would definitely support CCP/UF for following through with this penalty, even though the EU tourney has only 10 teams, because INTENTIONALLY and KNOWINGLY breaking a rule should not be tolerated even if you and everyone on your team (registered or not) think it's not worth following. Other teams did follow the rules and did not suffer because of them.
I have a life and I understand that it can be difficult to work in a tournament of this size. Would you think it's fair for me to ask everyone else in NA to reschedule their lives around mine because I couldn't attend? No, of course not. And just because it was more than one person doesn't mean that makes it more reasonable. I don't even believe that the majority of teams broke this rule. And even if it was the majority that doesn't make it more fair.
I'm not the type of person to follow rules blindly but I and most other people reading this, I'm sure, are willing to follow rules that we all agreed to when entering this tournament so we could maximize our enjoyment. When one person or one team or 50 people or 5 teams break a rule it makes it less fun for everyone. Don't hide behind rationalizations like "everyone is doing it." It makes you look like a fool and unworthy of any status you could gain from performing well.
I have no personal problem with you or anyone on your team. But look at the chaos and problems you've caused as a result. Do you think anyone else wants to deal with this? This is exactly why we follow the rules and play nice. |

I think this is in the works - but unfortunately it was recorded from the perspective of one of the racers so it's not clear who won (me) |

Traky78: Thank you for trying to help your corp-mates not make asses of themselves. Once again, I don't know any of you personally but some of what was said here has been disgustingly childish. I didn't want to say anything more on the issue but I'm actually kind of mad now that this whole thing happened. It's not any ONE person and apparently multiple teams caused problems but I'm surprised at what little respect was shown here to the community by a few. Pure negativity, in particular hate speech, is unacceptable. I'd kick a member for saying that in a forum thread for a tournament. So thank you for trying to reel it in. I can understand the frustration you all must be feeling and I hope we meet under better circumstances in the future.
On a different note to CCP, I've done some analysis on the NA tournament and it's brought up a point I think we need to investigate: There are only 18 rounds in the NA-T and 21 teams. Some teams are obviously no-shows for all, or nearly all, games. But there are some teams which don't appear to be playing each other which could end up in semi-finals together without having played before. And some teams which did not or will not get the "free wins" from the No-Shows. I haven't been keeping track of all matches, I would need that information to provide specific teams which might be vulnerable to these issues. But, regardless, I believe it's important we schedule the remaining 2 rounds for a true Round-Robin in the interest of fairness.
Is this a logi(bro)stical problem or has it just not occurred to anyone that we're missing a few rounds of tournament? |

Mind you, this isn't a complaint, per se; I think it's... interesting to play Ahrendee for the first time in QFs. I think (haven't checked but don't remember seeing any other obvious cases) we're the only teams matched which haven't played together yet.
Not thrilled about going into this blind but, luckily, they're just as blind as we are so it's all fair.
Good luck everyone! |

Ok, I'm not trying to jump in here without evidence of any kind and make wild accusations. However, I did get melee glitched (triple tapped in less than a second) by someone the other day. I didn't bother remembering the name because it was the 3rd round and the first 2 had already been won by the same team so it was a "for funzies" game. only survived the triple tap because I was wearing a caldari suit with full shield extenders and full armor plating. He still killed me with a couple rounds to the torso but it was kind of disheartening to die to someone who felt the needed to glitch in a round we were having fun in.
I honestly don't even remember if our team or their team was the winner of the first 2 games, like I said this match I'm speaking of was the 3rd and I didn't attempt to remember anything that happened in it because it was a meaningless game. But obviously that's a noticeable event in an otherwise bland match. I want to say it was AE but it could have been EoD. This info isn't meant to be used against anyone in particular but as long as we're on the subject I would like to put it out there to all readers; it's easy not to cheat. Just don't do it.

CCP Logibro wrote:heylookitz wutzisface wrote:Can you post the final positions and results for the round robin? Just curious how close to eighth place we were. We didn't have high expectations coming into this being a small corp however our corp faithfully was able to field a team for all 3 matches of every matchup win or loose. We also reported our results faithfully. With no "Byes" out of 18 matches we had 11 wins and 7 losses. I think we surprised some of our opponents. I'm pretty proud of our guys and the integrity they play with.
Thanks again to logibro for bringing some sanity to this tournament. 3dge of Darkness were actually tied for 8th place with 0uter.Heaven. The deciding factor there was that when the two teams fought each other in the first round 0uter.Heaven won that match.
Holy ****.
If it makes any difference 3oD, I think you guys kicked a lot more ass. |
