I think races should matter more I have two ideas that'll work (1) you start of lvl 1 in your races dropsuit (2) you get a racial bonus ex. Mimnatar b onus regen, caldari bonus shield, gallente bonus armor
Either way races need to matter more especially in a world with permanent skill tree and permanent decisions |

This goes against how EVE works, your race doesn't matter, your skills do. Starting off with levels in your racial dropsuit is sensible, but race does not matter. |

WHAT ABOUT AMARR?!?!?!?!?!?! We should get smaller bonus to both shield and armor..
But you should be able to choose what branch (light, medium, heavy) that you start out at lv1.
But yeah, I chose Amarr because they look all regal, and even if they had all the other variants, I'd probably stay Amarr Heavy only to slightly spec into the other heavy variants. |

Only bonus I ever see them giving is a couple of skills instead of the skill points every new character starts off with. The entire point of the skill tree is that ones race or role does not define how you play you do. |

So lets just go with option 1 who you pick as your race gives you a boost to start like that race |

I thought we were hybrid tankers? that's why the heavy has the same HP in armor and shields. |

In EVE, you start off with some skills at using your race's ships.
Therefore, starting off with a level in your races dropsuits would make sense (and help out the newberry's a little). However, I think that is as far as your racial decision should go.
Every player should be able to do anything, and be viable at any role, regardless of the race they choose. If I am Caldari, I should be able to use a Gallente assault just as effectively as a Gallente mercenary, as long as I have the skills.
Races still matter though, but it is from a lore standpoint, not a gameplay standpoint. Each of the races has a very deep and unique backstory, and that is what determines many players decisions when it comes to racial choice.
You can be a complete and utter waste of a human being, and choose Amarr, for example. Or, you can make the right choice. That is how all of the races already matter. No matter your choice though, you will still be able to use the superior Caldari technology in all of its glory. That freedom should not be limited. |

You are correct in saying that in Dust, Amarr are hybrid tankers. From a lore perspective though, this makes no sense, and I have no idea why CCP decided to go that route in Dust.
In EVE, the Amarr have the strongest armor out of any race. They are slow, lumbering, extremely durable hulks of machines, and their golden armor plating strikes fear into the heart of many.
Honestly, lore wise the Minmatar should be the hybrid tankers, since they utilize both shields and armor on their ships in EVE. |

Very incorrect, when you are making an intital class of character you can specialize how you want your character to be, such as I would stack int and such for my eve char, I only played a month, but I learned very quickly that the intital build was actually rather important for Eve chars, people even had to restart sometimes in order to get the best racial and character bonuses. In Eve, your race does matter, it does provide backstory, and many other things. |

THIS IS AGAINST EVERYTHING THAT IS NEW EDEN! (the universe we play in)
The absolute maximum this should do is give you some starting skills. That said, this game is not nearly complete enough to do that (think about how there is only 1 of the 4 racial variants is available for the heavy. Think about that) |

2) is a big no. A REALLY big no. Especially because people already chose their race. Starting levels in the racial dropsuit would be fine. But people who already have a char AND already have a point in their racial dropsuit should get the SP for that level refunded. Would be about 18000 I think? |
