While I understand the need to balance certain weapons, vehicles, and dropsuits within the game, it seems like many of these attempts to balance a weapon, suit, or vehicle result in the item in question becoming useless or close to it... or in some cases, completely overpowered by most standards. For obvious reasons, these balances can be rather damaging to players who have invested large amounts of SP into a specific area.
With the release of Uprising, everyone playing was given a respec. Everything was changed, but everyone got a chance to spend those skill points again on what was essentially a new game. I recently heard though that these respecs would never be offered again, ever, which came as a bit of a disappointment as I've acquired a number of things I don't want anymore. While I'm sure the idea has already been mentioned, I was wondering if it would be possible to charge for a respect, say... 10.000 Aurum, or $5, perhaps even $10. It seems like it would be a good way to make many of the players that are disappointed in nerfs to their favorite suits and weapons happy, while also giving CCP a way to increase Aurum sales to people who might not otherwise wish to spend any real money on this game. |

While an SP respec might be fine in other games, it probably wouldn't help CCP at all. The ability to respec in a game like Dust 514 is quite important, spending points on something you might not want or that gets changed later can be frustrating, and it could encourage spending more on Aurum to get those points back faster. That's the main thing, finding something that's beneficial to both parties, not just the players or CCP, but both sides.
$5 for a respec would be both reasonable and fair, plus it would likely encourage multiple respecs instead of a higher price that might pursued a player to only do it once and never again. |

this has been brought up in many threads and ccp hasn't done anything about it yet so really there lack of care about making extra money isnt there any system that involves a respec will be miss used by people who can aford it but you have to look at the long term of it not just the here and now you have to come up with a system that cant be abused
ie respec 10-20 bucks make it pricy so people have to think about what they are doing not doing it just to do it
30 day cool down on being able to buy a respec thus stopping people from just going flavor of the month as soon as a patch comes out
but bottom line is ccp don't give 2 pisses in the wind about making the extra money they have there meal ticket and that's eve they have enough suckers wrapped up in that to fill there pocket for a long time dust is only a advertisement for ccp getting its name on being the game that linked pc and consul gaming and getting more people hooked into eve from dust thinking that there is more to the game then click click click

Agreed 1000%. I played on the Beta as Gallente, and when I came back after a few months, I had a ton of SP, but decided I like Caldari assault suits more. So I spent a ton on Caldari. I paid for my mistake, and it's kind of unfair if I was able to go back and change it all again. I've got a few points in places I shouldn't have them, but I deal with it. You don't like what you spec'd in? Tough, move on to something else and pay the SP through the nose like the rest of us have. |

Respecs only benefit veterans at this point. Being able to reallocate 10 + mil is a game changer. If new players have to grind to get just one setup maxed, everyone should have to grind more to get 2. Invest in core skills people. |

u rnt getting the reason why i said respecs should cost sp!..
of the respec costs a pretty good portion of total sp then the player couldnt just instantly spec into i diffrent type of proto gear!
they have to re earn it through time... |

I don't choose which suits and weapons get nerfed or buffed. Consequences for the player's action are fine, but when something gets changed so drastically that it becomes useless, it shouldn't be the player's fault for such.
I also wasn't aware that this topic has been brought up before, as I don't tend to frequent the forums.
And as for the SP reset, it makes more sense when put that way. A total percentage SP cost would work nicely and would make it less likely for it to be abused.

Do you realize that if CCP were to offer respecs for cash, it would create incentive for them to constantly roll out significant "balance" updates? You're asking CCP to engage in a horrible business practice. Even if they weren't doing anything with this intention in mind, players would accuse them of it. The only difference here is that instead of being pissed off that they wasted their SP on a suit or gun that isn't OP anymore, players would be pissed off that they have to spend another $5 or $10 respeccing because CCP introduced a new FOTM and nerfed the last one. |

There are quite a few points raised in that thread, but if you can work out a way around those drawbacks then by all means lets discuss it. Cheers, Cross ps ~ there is however another thread which provided a possible alternative that solves many of the issues raised within the first link, perhaps starting there would be more desirable. ^This |
