So just a little idea I thought of, what if instead of dropping vehicles in through RDV, it was done like when turrets and such drop during an OMS match.
Make it so that when a player calls in a vehicle, it always drops 5m or 10m infront of him, regardless of terrain or buildings. It drops down quick in a crate, crate dissolves like bodies do, then you're off.
A few tweaks to how things are dropped would need to be made. Mostly when it lands, a pushback on anything underneath it, no damage to anything pushed back by it to prevent team kill abuse. As far as calling it in, and then it lands on top of the MCC or otherwise inaccessible area, you knew it was coming down 5m infront of you, you'll learn to call it in better.
A possible flaw to this plan would be the offensive use of vehicle drops, using the pushback to knock snipers and such off of the building infront of you. Maybe have it stop for a second or two 5m before it hits the ground, then release?
I'm tired of calling in vehicles and watching them be dropped on top of the ridge I'm trying to hide behind, or on a ridge my heavy has to go the long way round to get on top of. I'm also tired of watching glitched RDV's bang my vehicles against every building, running 50m away from me, then dropping it in sight of a batshit crazy AI run rail turret that pops the vehicle from 400m. |

It would take a very skilled player to be able to perfectly execute a vehicle drop that would be lethal, specially when mercs are running all over the place. I think the knockback should affect enemies but not friendlies, and if your not smart enough to realize that the person your chasing just stopped moving for 3 seconds and cannot make the connection he is calling a vehicle you deserve to be squeeshed by it. |
