on the contrary, machines have less margin of error than humans do. During aiming, hesitation, thoughts, emotions, all of these affect the aim of a human being. That is why humans are programed to be killing "machines" in the military, as in follow orders without second thoughts. The instant a shooting is having second thoughts, their aiming error will increase. Whereas a machine is programed to follow orders and just that, having less margin of error. |

Although, turrets sniping drivers out of their seats while they are flying through the air is a bit op. |

It is quite annoying to turn a corner in an LAV, going full speed, only to be shot in the face by a blaster turret. Do they really have to be programmed to aim at the driver? |

Maybe CCP should do turrets more POWERFUL and resilient and just remove AI completely, making it only player usable ... i dont know, just trying to brainstorm here... |

There's no "get better" when a railgun hits you out of the blue from 417m away.
There's no "get better" when a blaster up and decides to fire at you despite you being the only person even remotely near the objective, as opposed to a large group of people where they don't notice anyone at all.
There's no "get better" when a railgun doesn't fire at a tank until just as soon as it explodes then it magically decides it time to start firing. |

The turret AI is batshit. Blasters are super sensitive and hyper-accurate to the extent that once they see you, if there's no cover nearby you are guaranteed a death. Railguns on the other hand are finicky as **** and if they're not firing aimlessly over and over again (without overheating no less) they're too busy making ridiculously long shots. I'm not the only one it's happened to, few of my corp mates have reported getting killed by AI controlled Railgun Turrets from 200+ ranges
That and they're derpishly hilarious when tanks are firing at them |

No one wants to die to a random machine deciding that it's your time. Death to a.i. controlled turrets feels like you just died of a heart attack.

I stopped going near enemies turrets while driving or on foot. Stop driving past them! As for approaching on foot, cover is the only thing that may save your life, as even if it grazed your arm it will kill. Honestly, if it shoots you while hacking an objective, you should have removed the threat first, would you have hacked with an enemy looking at you? Not to mention it would have covered you while hacking if you hacked it first. AI is notoriously good against humans who like to kiss terminators on their chrome lips. Try playing the unlocked difficulty on same games and the AI are super precise forcing you to pop in and out of cover with each shot.
In real life, would you drive a humvee or run up/past a computer assisted mounted HMG with a DARPA AI, heat and night vision? Modern day video cameras have incredible tracking/motion sensors. The idea of perishable equipment in this game is to make people smarter and more combat aware. The turrets are doing their job. |

This is a multiplayer shooter - not a single player frag-fest campaign.
Find me one AAA title shooter game that has AI controlled turrets with pre-determined location, because there's a reason they don't exist. |

I find that in AAA shooters the enemies are, in fact spawning from the exact same location evertime you play the level. Considering them to be moving turrets, which are more dangerous. I've been killed a fair amount by these turrets, and have adapted to how they behave better. Whenever one pops me, it reminds me to be more cautious. I swear this game has made me consider what I'm doing rather than going through the motions. It's what I liked about MOH so much, cause you had to think and move as if you were really in a war. Speaking of which, MOH had many turrets with predetermined locations. Lots of shooters have mounted AI guns these days. Syndicate, Portal, Crysis, TF2 and more I'm sure, have them. AI turrets are apart of the wide world of technology no matter how much we dislike the idea of a computer with a gun. Brings new meaning to 'error 101'. |
