For Skirmish mode, this is what I propose:
As long as a side controls all of the objectives on the map, remove the redline. Hear me out, don't go just yet. Now without the redline in place, there would be a console inside of the MCC's that could be "armed" that would initiate destruction of the MCC.
Things needed to do this well: -MCC's need a more elaborate interior, with spawns away from the bay doors. -Multiple bays
Things I would see as awesome: -Interior defence shields over doors -Ability to shoot into and out of the bays -Rewards or medals for accomplishments like # of hacks, destroying MCC, Base raiding for getting into the enemy's MCC
What this would intend to do: -This would reward teams that attempt to raid the MCC and end the battle early by destroying the MCC -Reduce AFK since there's no where safe when you abandon your team into the redline. -Interior, objective based gameplay. -Create a meaningful accomplishment for players that are bored while redlining or being redlined. |

Namely, this becoming a massive **** fest for the losing team. They already wouldn't have any way to move out, now they have no where to even spawn.
Your idea is neat, but needs some hashing out. Also, MCC would need to be bigger to really make it work. Say, double the size.
I acknowledge that there are problems to be hashed out in the specifics. What would you rather:
Game is over quickly and you don't die much? Or Game is long and boring as people hide in corners, while the only people trying lose suit after suit running into a wall of lead?
Either way you lose. One is over quickly, one takes a long slow agonizing failure and costs you more. One forces you to engage, while the other encourages you to sit around not playing the objective.
Maybe the redline would move back to allow access to the MCC, while still protecting a ground spawn? Think of the mayhem if someone flanks and the redline reappears while a team is in the MCC
Also note that I wouldn't put this into PC or Domination - Though Domination should have one contested objective at a time and a moving Redline based on which objective is being contested. |
