I just got out of a domination match. We had only one volley left till we wpuld have won. But...people dont bother looking at the how many clones we have left and deside to spawn and clone us out. Are people really the dumb or dp they just dont bother keeping ? It was a great battle until a idiot did that.
Please learn from this it will deside many matches. DONT BE THAT GUY! |

Most amateurs don't even notice the clone counter at first I suspect. Others don't really care about winning, they just want to get right back into the fight to raise their KDR because they think they are still playing Call of Duty. |

Tactics will often win over pure FPS skill or even how good the gear is. |

Most FPS players are garbage. The percentage of DUST players being garbage is even higher. The scoreboards speak for themselves. I have found that most DUST players that are decent are just displaced Battlefield or CoD players who have now found themselves being the big fish in a small pond. (Only in DUST is a 20/0 game considered Godlike, lol)
I play solo 99.9% of the time, I turn off voice as well. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure DUST out. BUT, my advice to new players (Anyone with under 25,000 life time WP) is to never play alone. Join a corp, be in a squad, get a mic and communicate. Don't be afraid to ask stupid questions. Get on YouTube and do some research. Controlling the clone count is a major part of every battle.
lowratehitman & DSTheDrunkHeavy are 2 good channels to learn from, they are very good about explaining the game to new players from a new player perspective, especially for crossover players.

I've broken through spawn campers by repeated spawns. But yeah, one group was farming simply to drop the clone count and it takes awhile to realise both that they aren't just around the spawn point and that they are actually concentraiting on locking it down. Only ever seen it once, though.
The whole point of the tactic is to exploit the ambiguity between taking it on the chin and getting back into the fight, Vs walking into a presetup meat grinder. Both are quite similar.
How are you supposed to know one from the other, without just spawning in the MCC and standing still because maybe every spawn point is being perfectly camped? |

Guess what: winning instant battles does't matter. It's all about making ISK, and there's currently no noticeable difference with ISK gain if you win or lose. |

CCP could add a lot of depth and additional player involvement if they would focus some attention on the mercenary aspects of dust. Profit/loss stats, clear benefits to actions that boost profit in game, a system by which players feel competitive about isk
Seems like things of this nature could enhance dust while setting it further apart from standard fps lobby shops. Also, I expect development along these lines could be done in parallel with the aim/frame/performance and balance efforts.
