I got a fanmail for "spawn camping". Got three kills within the span of a few seconds trying to take out an uplink. Needless to say the letter made my day. I just wish it was a little longer.

Yeah, and here we come to one of the largest problems we have right now.

People are literally making entire threads on nerfing a weapon just because they want to screw over the people that use it.

At the point you're trying to use nerfing as some twisted form of PvP, I think something is seriously ****** up with this community.

It's called meta-gaming.

But if you are referring to my Mass Driver post, I have to say I'm not trying to screw people over. This issue is a little more complicated than a simple "Is it OP, or not OP".

Because while I understand the Mass Driver is no more effective in the hands of a casual than a zero SP milita assault rifle in the hands of a vet, that doesn't mean it's the same thing when an actual skilled player gets his hands on an MD.

Ideally, we want a weapon that support (non-slayers) players can use for area denial and perhaps even still have a place in the competitive world. But that is a difficult task to balance as there are many other outside factors that influence the performance of this weapon in contrast to others (Hit detection, framrates, armor/shield balancing, weapon balancing).


It's really hard to say.
