I think a dev talked about a bonus SP "pool". You'd gain SP into the pool passively like passive SP, but you'd still have to earn it in game. This would also mean the active booster instead of increasing the amount after a match, it would just increase the rate at which the pool build. This would avoid a cap reset every week making events like x3 SP easier to schedule at any time. It also means all active boosters have the same amount of potential making 30 days still more cost effective than buying a 1 day booster and capping in a day each week. I hope something like this is implemented.
So essentially there would still be passive SP as there is now, but the bonus SP cap would increase at a slow continuous rate.
This also means you could start off new players with a lot more initial Bonus SP. |

This will ENCOURAGE players to ACTUALLY play more! Lets face it, if anyone ever got a mill or two behind, they will probably never collect it all. But, its there if they find the time. Here is an example of why this IS needed! Last month my town was hit by the WORST flood it has EVER seen. We are talking about 8 feet OVER the 100 year plain! Anyway our internet was out for two weeks. AHHHHHH Those points I would have earned are now gone for ever! It took us TWO weeks and the national guard to clean up the mess Second reason: 1/3 of dust players live in mommy's basement with nothing but free time! (just saying, not literally) They easily hit cap in a day or two. Heck I've capped in a day! Anyone agree? Wouldn't it be cool if they already confirmed they're doing this? Oh wait, they did. Months ago.
Can you link it? I can't remember where it is. |

With a rollover, you'd still have to play to earn active SP at some point. Why do you cap if not to gain the SP? |

CCP Nothin wrote:Active boosters simply multiply the number of skill points you receive at the end of each battle. As such, you are better off activating them when your pool of battle skill points is full (e.g. at the beginning of each weekly cycle). If you play a lot, you might be better off with a shorter (e.g. 3-day) active booster as it will allow you to earn bulk of the extra SP by playing a lot while it is active. If you prefer a more casual style of play, you might prefer to have the boost active throughout and have the freedom to spread your play over more days without worrying about it too much.
Now, in regard to the weekly skill cap and the implications of it:
We acknowledge that the current implementation of the skill cap still isn't quite there yet. It doesn't quite allow people to choose when to play as freely as we would like, and it also adds some unnecessary complexity when it comes to using active boosters. This is why we are working our way towards a rollover SP system: instead having your pool of bonus SP being reset according to a fixed weekly cycle, you will steadily accumulate bonus SP to a pool over time that you can then empty through fighting in battles. As a result, everyone should be able to better choose when to come in and claim the available SP. Moving to such a system would have the added benefit of allowing us to make active boosters to give out a constant value over time by having them influence the rate at which SP accumulates into the pool instead of just multiplying SP received at the end of each battle.
I knew I wasn't crazy, thanks Mobius. |

Honestly, this isn't a bad for anyone. Players have more Freedom to play when they want. CPP can now sell active boosters to people who don't have a lot of time to play each week, but may find the time. People who continuously grind will see no change in the amount gained.
Added bonuses: Can be used to help boost new players, with either an initial Bonus amount, or even initial bonus SP gain speed (they can make it even faster with boosters). May even stop AFK farming, at least for those who are genuinely busy trying to hit their cap. |
