It means Area of Effect, no one goes into a game with a mass driver with the intentions of direct hitting everything. You should focus your tears on truely OP weapons like contact nades, AV nades or Forgeguns

Actually, this isn't true some of them are using tactics (squad level) to beat you. I purposely run the Scrambler Rifle to strip the shield of our opponents, while my squad-mate then finishes them with the Mass Driver. Its not our fault that a lot of the player base expects their shields to save them, or are armor tanks.

We came up with the tactic to keep each other safe, and make up for the weaknesses of our chosen weapons.

You're still ignoring that with the assault rifle you don't have to worry about the elevation, distance and the area. with the mass driver there's many things that come to place. Your ignoring the fact that the assault rifle still is more effective in all situations. I've people snipe with the AR, it's good for long range mid range and even cqc hip fire. but youre mad because a grenade launcher isnt design to be "direct damage" ha funny. If the enemy is at elevation why would you waist you time on him? It's clear that with your gun you can't do anything avoiding ONE guy and leaving him for a teammate is not something worth trying to use as a defense.

No troll aside. Nomatter what I do they will still defend it. They won't admit that it's a easy gun to use. Even if I run solo and have good games, they will always bring up some more hurdles. This is an Extra Credits video about balancing for skill. It really touches on the points you're trying to make. I don't particularly agree with you, but there certainly is a need for a sort of "noob tube" weapon in Dust. If the MD was that, then the game should really point players in that direction. Not just let them incidentally drift towards it.
