I think we will see Dust develop like eve. CCP doesn't have the resources to make the best fps. So what do they do. They create a mediocre game that will get them some funds to continue the programming process. They will build and build until they have a viable game as EVE is. Their base players will still be here. Just as EVE's base stuck by them.
So what do we have to look forward to. Progress is what we have to look forward to. This game will be developed for many years. Hence the continuous patches. Right now it's meh. But in the long run they will eventually have built a planetary conquest that matters. A game that you can actually be happy playing and not feel like a grind fest unless your a noob.
We will see a FPS unlike any other years from now. |

By many years I'm guessing your not meaning on the PS3.
10 year plan to finally get it right on ps3. then another 10 years to get it right on ps4 or pc cause old consoles don't have 10 year life cycles after new console drops. Unless you count 1000- players a alive. |

That may be true and I look forward to that day. However, Eve survived because of the subscriptions but I suspect booster sales on Dust 514 is dropping as evidenced by the increase in x3 and x2 SP events.
So I hope Dust 514 survives but I believe CCPs hold on the dust player base is far weaker than it was for Eve. |

I hope you are right but there is one major difference between EVE and DUST,
EVE wasn't saturated with competition.
Dust IS saturated with competition.
For this only reason, I believe the Dust does not have the luxury of waiting YEARS to get better. Dust can be forgotten in YEARS. Outlook for Dust is sketchy, hopefully the restructuring CCP did with their DEVs will help push Dust in the right direction..... but I wouldn't be too surprised if Dust ended up having the same fate as MAG or Section 8. |

My point is Eve is has fierce competition right now if one were to start playing Eve. The new player will grind just as new players do in dust. |

The same reason why people left Eve and then went back after they found out "crap I screwed up now this game is awesome and I have to start over" except with dust they will come back with a world of sp from passive gain and be a viable player. |

I'm here because I do enjoy the game, and I enjoy playing with my corp in PC (seriously, best multiplayer group i've ever played with period, and i've played the raiding game in quite a few MMORPGs).
However, my time here is probably limited, im burned out and my patience is wearing thin. Plus im not particularly interested in the PS4, and I don't suspect this game will ever make it to the PC. Unless CCP decides they don't like sony after all and pull out of PSN (yaaaay lol). |

Hes talking about competition from other games When EVE was first released there were other MMOs sure but none in its niche of spaceships and what not Dust has tooooooooons of competition since there are many many sci fi themed FPS games out there which offer a more polished gaming experience without having content time locked behind months of waiting |

Dust will not survive on console with the Eve approach of developing. Dust should be on PC where CCP can develop with the slow Eve approach in the end CCP will be left with EVE players who purchased PS3's to play dust.
That wasn't the objective the objective was to attract the console player market. They failed on that objective so far.
CCP will have to relaunch dust with at least 90% of content along with a better system to retain players once they join.
They launched Dust with 10% content on a console that is a death sentence. Hence why EP was let go the gaming community world wide said Dust is garbage.
So far Dust keeps going backwards with every update example Flaylock internal testing said it was great. They release it to the masses then CCP nerfs it.
They can not continue with that pattern with the current SP system in place with no respec option. This game is a grind due to that alone console players will not stay.
To me CCP doesn't understand how the console market works they need to hire folks who fully understands how the console market works in order for Dust to be successful in the future. |

We can only hope that Dust aspires to such heights. If you couldn't find things to do to keep it from being dull then it wasn't intended for what you want out of the game. That doesn't make it bad. It doesn't have to and wasn't meant to have universal appeal even among the MMO crowd. |
